And what is your impression of the sound in comparison to other options?
Welcome!
Did this ever get resolved for you?
This morning my Maestro updated to version 10.4.4, and since then I’ve been experiencing an issue with audio playback. When I start a track, sound plays for about two seconds and then cuts out completely. The track itself continues playing in Maestro as if everything is normal, but there is no audio output.
If I restart Maestro, the sound returns—but again only for about two seconds before dropping out.
Maestro is still connecting to my Marantz Stereo 70s as expected, and there have been no other changes to my system. There are also no error messages; playback appears normal aside from the loss of sound.
Has anyone run into this or have any suggestions on what might be causing it?
Is that still the case? This was fixed a while back. Can you quit and reopen and let me know?
Can you try this again and see if my fixes were effective on this bug and let us know?
My Maestro account is hung. It says I can ‘reactivate with one click’, but when I do, nothing happens.
I tried Maestro on Windows. Install and tour were great. I found out that my setup wont work with maestro - MacMini (limited to Catalina) → USB → matrix SPDIF → I2S → DSD MKII . Since my mini server is the only device in the chain connected to ethernet, maestro cannot see the DAC nor the Matrix “streamer.” Perhaps if my mini could run Big Sur (11) I could run Maestro on it and then stream to the Matrix/MKII.
Unless I am missing something, Maestro won’t work for my current setup. Too bad for me, it looks really amazing!
Still the same using the Marantz but works ok inserting my WiiM Ultra streamer between Maestro and the Marantz
How should I think of Maestro vs Qobuz Connect? Connect also pulls the data directly from the cloud to the renderer, not? Did anyone compare?
I don’t imagine there’s any difference, since in both cases the renderer establishes a direct connection with Qobuz to stream the selected music.

Too early to pass such judgments. So far it seems nice. It is a very promising tool! Listening again now and it sounds very pure. The bottom end seems more refined. Yum!
can you email me directly and we’ll get you taken care of?
I’ve been trying to figure out for a few days now how to lose the credit card requirement of Maestro and I think I’ve nailed it. If you head over to www.maestromusic.app and click on the free 30 day trial you can now get a month’s subscription without entering your credit card. Yay!! It took some doing but enough folks asked and I am doing my best to accommodate.
I am, after all, a one man band. ![]()
For those who have previously been kind and adventurous enough to put their credit cards in that’s still ok and I extended everyone to another 30 days and then you can cancel or stick around if you’re loving it.
Wasn’t an easy task. In any case, done now so if you know someone who might be interested in laying or helping me build this program please help spread the word. They can try it free without any strings.
This does not include a Qobuz subscription that’s on them, or they can just play with the local library section (like JRiver users). In any case, have fun and let’s keep moving forward!
I seem to be unable to scan DSF files and get any metadata. Am I making a mistake or are others having this problem too?
Hi Paul,
I deleted the app and then downloaded the most recent app (this is on Mac OS) and was able to reactivate my account.
I’ve been able to stream from Quboz and also scanned my local files from my NAS successfully (however the metadata for many of the albums seems to be missing or incorrect).
I’m going to spend some time comparing Maestro/Roon sound quality.
If there is a beta program for Maestro I’ll be happy to help.
Thanks,
Justin
I think this is the beta program. Hence the 30 day trial that Paul extended. I’m in the process of forcing my old 2012 Macmini to accept an unsupported macOS upgrade. Then I can try Maestro on the Mac.
Thanks, Justin! Glad you’re on board and if you have time can you go to support and drop me a few examples of the incorrect metadata on albums and we’ll getr to the bottom of it and fix ‘er up.
That’s exactly what I get (I’ve taken to calling it the “various artists disease”). Although it mostly get the titles and the music file are there, everything else (Artist, cover art, track timing, etc.) are missing. In my experience, it’ll sometimes find the cover art, but never the other metadata. Here’s an example of what mine looks like:
