Anyone using Paul's Maestro Music management system?

Having no luck at all adding my local library. It’s on a USB and have tried plugging the drive directly into the Windows 11 computer I have Maestro installed on and I have also tried adding it via my Windows network as the drive is usually plugged into the linux computer that I have Roon and Audirvana installed on. Both times the scan goes well:

But each time after the scan is completed I get an empty library:

How much testing occurred before this was released as a paid product?

So I thought I’d sign up for Qobuz and give that I try:

But no, that doesn’t even show in my Services list:

I have restarted and even reinstalled Maestro to no avail. No Qobuz and no Library

I have had exactly the same problem. My music is stored directly on my Mac where Maestro is located. It starts to scan and when finished no albums etc shown. It does show it is connected to my music folder.

I have been able to connect to Qobuz but it doesn’t show up under Services either. However, if I search for specific artists it finds them in Qobuz and if I make them favourites then they appear on my artist list and I can play their albums.

I am guessing you need to use UPNP as an endpoint on the B4M. If you did that already and it didn’t work you can install it on the B4M once its released for Mac.

@Paul This has the potential to be a major milestone or even game changer in the HiFi / audio industry! Following things for decades - also as an early days Roon user with lifetime sub and switched to JPlay as Roon is a mess in many ways - there is a demand for a highly user friendly and top sounding solution like Maestro. Also community integration which is part of your and PS Audio philosophy very much will contribute to that success.

I got a number of ideas how UI/UX, core features should be like - but solving the scenario of having DSP/convolution engine for Digital Room correction and no need to have to use another device which weakens the audio quality would be a massive advantage. What is the timeline for that? Or can a convolution filter already be run in Prism?

Fantastic! Yes that works. I’m playing it now through a PS Audio BridgeII. Never had sound as good as this and I’ve tried BubbleUPNP, Roon, and Audirvana. Looking forward to being able to actually add my local library on Windows or Android & IOS

Sounds very good so far. Appreciate that it’s a BETA experience for now. More of a train wreck on PC at the moment, but still nice to know that someone is trying to improve the whole streaming thing… A lot less bland than the ROON sound. More like Audirvana (also a challenging adventure), but without the weird ‘glassy’ overlay… Sounds a lot like Qobuz connect upon first day’s listening… Will have another go tomorrow…

Oh and of course the local library is not a goer at the moment… I loaded it, but I think Ella is working out if I have the appropriate taste in music and will get back to me after book club…

Haha in the meantime it’s fun to see how things escalate in the according thread at Roon forum

As usually team members and moderators are instantly trying to badmouth Maestro, supported by the „Roon is bit-perfect and everything sounds the same" users :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

And the very best: without even having heard and compared Maestro!! Just another proof how unbearable that community has become over the years. Even a single user just stating that he sees an interesting position of the software gets attacked. Wow, so glad there are open minded people in HiFi all over the world that will appreciate Maestro and its further development a lot!!

Thanks, and you’ve nailed the intent. Timeline for Prism DSP which will be a real game changer allowing folks to remaster individual tracks or whole albums or whole systems should be live sometime in late May. I need to get all the bugs and niggles fixed so I can then submit for approval as an IOS and Android app.

There is a Mac version. Not iOS or android yet. BACCH sees it, but its not doing the DSP. May be a setting change that I have no clue about, but sound comes out. Its just stereo..blah who wants that after using BACCH.

But its getting close. If Maestro comes out with a remote option like roon and works out the bugs, it could be a very strong contender. Its actually pretty good for being such a young software product. Hope it continues to grow.

100% - this seems table stakes for any ‘player’ software. At the moment you have the queue and can delete tracks - that seems to be all. I use random in bigger playlists a lot and would like random by album and random by track - as well as ideally options to stop after track played and remove previous and remove forthcoming tracks ala Squeeze style playlist playback. Format, bit depth etc detail on the ‘play’ bar would also be good

Are you looking for a Qobuz tab in the menu? I removed that because it was confusing to people because if you see albums or anything g in the home page that is ALL Qobuz. Maybe I should have not done that?

Sorry guys, that’s next on my list to nal down. It works great for smaller libraries but bigger ones are failing and some of my fixes haven’t been great. :frowning:

I will have libraries up and running before Monday.

Absolutely! Plan is to get this early work done with the help of all our kind beta testers who are working with me. I am using the iPad and iPhone version daily, but can’t yet release it until we get the bugs worked out—all to say this is why I am doing it this way first.

The iPad app works great but has the same bugs as the desktop because, as you guessed, it is just a remote version of the desktop. Cool thing is that when launched, you won’t need the desktop at all.

This is fixed. I returned the Qobuz section to the Services section. Thanks for the suggestion.

@Paul Just received this feedback of a friend who is using it: No matter which USB device I select, it always uses the Windows default device.
And while it does scan my local music files, I unfortunately can’t access them. I also can’t access my Qobuz favorites.

Am considering B4M but have no idea how it will work with Maestro (never had roon etc so wont be getting it now) I use it directly to the PMG 512 streamer which sounds better than via my Innuos Zen Mk3 on my system… worried B4M would end up only working for music coming from my Innuos HD… this accounts for at least 50% ot my listening. What a great conundrum…
