I added yet another device to my system and wanted to plug it into an unused outlet on my P20. It’s a regular C15 plug with a ground pin, but for the life of me I can’t get it to plug into any of the open outlet positions on my P20. It plugs into a wall outlet just fine - it’s a stock cord from Pass so there’s nothing special about it.

Here’s a pic of one of the open outlets

I know these are “tight” outlets, but the amount of force I was using seemed a bit over the top.

Maybe you’re not used to tamper resistant receptacles? They have been around a little while but I assume they’re still pretty new to many. That shutter (you can see it in the picture and the TR label) prevents a child, or dumb adult, from sticking something into the receptacle other than the male end of a plug.

Well, considering that previous to my P20 I was using a P15 for almost 5 years, I’m at a bit of a loss as to why there’s any difficulty now. Unless… are these receptacles designed so that a new plug can’t be inserted if that power bank is on? 🤔 Come to think of it I’m not sure if I’d ever done that before.

They do take a good deal of force, accompanied by gentle rocking.

The ones I’m trying to use must be extra stubborn. 🫤

They can be obnoxious.

The weight of the P20 comes in handy at times. 🙂

Good luck!

Those shutters will also fail at the most inopportune times. I don’t think my P20 has them but they were in an RV that I owned and one was unusable from new and another failed with a few uses.
Sometimes a wiggle back and forth will help the doors open. They are a general PITA.

My P20 has those. The power cable trials are a complete PITA at times especially leaning over a rack shoved up to the front wall and dealing with short cables to save dollars. I have my cheaper longer cables in the top duplex. The trying to get enough force without knocking P20 off its sorbothane footers 100 lb mass is easily exceeded.

A little extra wiggling seems to have gotten the job done. I don’t recall any of the other P20 outlets being quite as uncooperative.
