DirectStream and load resistance

I have another question: what load resistance do people find works best with the DirectStream?

As a device with transformer output, I’d imagine load resistance can have a significant effect on sound. I know, personally, that if I run my high-output moving coil cartridge into the specified 47Kohm load, it sounds thin and strident. Whereas if I run it into a much lower resistance (2.4K) it becomes more full and rich sounding.

And while most people praise the Directstream, I’ve read that others have found it to sound somewhat thin and light. I’m wondering whether this could be attributed to load.

The FR and phase response are unaffected by the load resistance. As an example: the 20dB attenuator is simply an added load resistance to ground.
