That which sounds best to your ears.
Has that ever been a thing?? lol
I don’t use jumpers. I run two pairs of cables to each speaker. This could very well be overkill. It does work though.
That is the correct way to do it. That keeps the path of the signal separate back to the power amp. Running a biwire cable is the same as using jumpers at the speakers. I have tried both ways and definitly two cables sounds much better than one, but it does cost twice as much.
I would try different cables.
When some of you are talking about MSB, you mean the $95K cascade DAC?
When I refer to MSB Premier DAC comes to mind, as it is within my limited budget.
The MSB Select DAC was my gateway to “super DAC’s” and the Premier sounded even better at a dealership. The MU2 has given me that non-digital sound as well, and I’m content for now. You have heard the MPD-8 (jealous) and since I think it falls into that musical camp, it will be on the radar as well. But for now, it’s time to revamp some cabling. It’s good to know that $39 on Amazon can get me right with speaker wire .
You cracked me up with the wire comment! Yes the MSB Premier got my attention as well at said same shop, (SSS). The MSB Cascade and Select are well beyond my means, the Premier is a maybe, as is the MPD-8. The Grimm MU2 seems to be a bargain considering.
If they could take out the cost of the preamp and just have the DAC…
No, keep the preamp! I need that in MU2 to make it a bargain. Otherwise, I need a $63k Gryphon pre to beat it (according to Al’s evaluation).
You don’t currently own a preamp as good as the one in the Grimm MU2. And the DAC inside it should please you more than even the Panasonic DAC you have favored for so long. No chips, all FPGA so you can’t source a cheaper DAC that has the same chipset.
Sounds like I have to try that in my system.
If you do find yourself interested in it I can hook you up with the right person to buy it from. Worthwhile discounts.
Also, for anyone interested in a Grimm MU2, a subscription to ROON is mandatory. There is no using this device without Roon unless you use it as a Preamp/DAC or DAC only. The streaming function of this device REQUIRES ROON. ROON is not free. It comes installed on the device but operating it requires a subscription.
Ugh the price of admission just went up $830 the same price as 3 discounted M2 fuses.
