DSD download question

I just ordered and DL’d Take Five/Dave Brubeck from HDTT in DSD256. It sounds really great, especially the piano. My Eversolo is playing it from a usb stick into my DS MKll dac. The MKll is displaying 176.4/24. The Eversolo is displaying PCM 176.4/24. Above that display it displays DSD 256..11.29 MHZ…1bit.

Can anyone clarify this for me? What do the different readings displayed mean?

BTW there’s a 20% off sale going on….High Def Tape Transfers.

Which Eversolo is connected and what connection method is used?

Eversolo A6 via coax cable to MKll.

Your system in converting the file because it cannot feed a DSD256 file over coax.

Thanks. What would be better other than HDMI which the Eversolo doesn’t have?

Try USB.

One of the USB ports on the A6 is for a DAC. Use it.

OK so I plugged in my USB-A 3.2 stick with the music on it into the Eversolo USB-A 3.0 plug which says OTG on it. Then connected the USB-A 2.0 into the MKll. It’s putting out the proper DSD resolution but with static hiss in the sound. Any ideas? I turned everything off, let sit, and then everything back on but no difference.

Sorry, no thoughts here. I don’t know anything about the gear you’re working with. Perhaps someone will have some ideas. I can confirm that there is no “static hiss” in the Dave Brubeck Take Five DSD256 album from HDTT. So, this is somewhere in your setup.

I wish I had an easy answer. I also have a DMP-A6, but is in my 2nd system, where I use the DAC inside the Eversolo to convert DSD256 to analog. The USB connector is the only possible way to output DSD256 from that Eversolo streamer/dac.

Check the manual to see if that’s the right USB port. If memory serves me the correct USB port is a USB C port.

Thanks. It does sound very good on 176hz pcm.

Well I’m at a loss. I bought some usb-a to usb-c adapters but I can’t get anything out of usb-c on the Eversolo. They state that HDMI is for multichannel output. It doesn’t output anything to the MKll. USB-a will give me DSD to the MKll but it has static hiss in the music. Think I need a better usb-a cable??

You need to look at the manual to determine which USB port is for an external DAC. If you don’t have the manual anymore, find a copy online at the Eversolo website. Once you deterime whic USB port is the correct one, worry about USB cables then.
But really, having your DSD converted to PCM is such a non-problem, you could just go back to the connection that was working and enjoy life as it is.

Also, I think you have to tell the A6 which output you are using. The manual has the answers.

This is the back of my Eversolo DMP-A6. It is easy to see the top usb port is an input and the bottom port is an output. At this quality level, I can easily hear a loss in sound quality when going through 2 DAC conversions from dsd to pcm and then pcm to analog. Maybe with 2 DAC’s totaling a cost between $35k and $40k plus special processing it might not be an issue having music go through 2 dac conversions, but at this level, it most certainly is.

Use the bottom USB 3.0 port labeled USB Audio Out. Not the USB C port,

I downloaded the manual. The pcm does sound good but I bought these DSD files to hear DSD. I was under the impression that the A6 would pass it through. It does with a lot of hiss.

I appreciate everyone trying to help. What kind of source do I need to here DSD through my MKll?

Try the bottom USB 3 port labeled Audio Out.

Thanks. I was under the impression that the Eversolo was just passing the DSD files through to the MKll.

It might be possible to get dsd256 output from the usb out, but it might also not be possible. The internet says it can, but the Eversolo website does not mention dsd256 output in the specs for the A6.

The optical and coax digital outputs cannot output dsd256.

The bottom USB port supports up to DSD512. The USB-C port is an input to the units DAC section.
