Elyric for iPad air and iPhone 5 doesn't work?

#1

I have a huge problem with Elyric for iPad air and iPhone 5 after the latest update.

On my iPhone I can’t see the menu in the bottom of the screen where I select if I want to see the playlist, library or the ps control panel. I am only able to see the music library that is on the welcome screen. So in other words I can only see the music in my iPhone and only play it on my iPhone.

On the iPad I can open the app but if I search for devices I can only see my twonky server and the iPad it self. I can’t see my PWD at all. If I try it select my twonky server as my media server the app crashes instantly.

Does anyone else have these problems? And how do I fix it?

Right now the app is completely useless and I can’t use my PWD to play music.

Yes, I am having exactly the same issue with my iPhone 5s. I did the latest update and prior to the system worked flawlessly. Haven’t used the system for a couple of weeks and today I am having the same issue as you. Cannot see the menu at the bottom of the screen and can only see the library for the music that is on the iPhone.

I have no idea how to fix it as I have deleted and reloaded, swiped every way I can. Stumped and as in your case the app is useless and cannot use the PWD to play music.

Help!

#3

Bloody hell when is this going to be FIXED. This crap has been going on for WEEKS. I can’t play my music.

#4

have you tried using another control point like Kinsky in the meantime?

#5

Indeed. We have just received a new version to test and hopefully it will solve it. Unfortunately so far I can’t get it to load on the iPhone 5. The iPad version works perfectly. Stay tuned. In the meantime it might make sense to use Plug Player.

A temporary fix is to reset the upnp server of the psaudio pwd on the pc. After you could see the dac on the net.

I had this issue on my iPad before OS7 and no one at PSA could tell me anything about it. If the software can't find something its looking for it just crashes and goes away. Sometimes you have to hit the icon 5 or 6 times before the app will even come back up. This never happens on the iPhone version.

I see all these other options like Kinsky, JRiver app, Minimserver, etc., but I personally think the eLyric interface is the best. I like the way everything lays out and the fact that you can change everything on the DAC from your hand. You also don't have to have a computer running in the background, which was the whole purpose of the bridge, I thought?

Looking forward to the final fix, which we can see Paul is working hard on. These other options don't impress me much.

Indeed, all other options are just generic players. We need a dedicated PS Audio approved UI

With Linn you have Linn Kinsky which is quite ok OR you buy Chorus DS (about 60 euro’s) but NO issues.

To me I cannot imagine that PS Audio doesn’t want to “own” a perfect user interface. The user interface is one third of the value proposition in the eyes of the consumer. So why does PS Audio leave itself exposed like this?!! From the posts I have read it seems that Pauls opinion is that software development is not for PS Audio. To me Paul makes a huge mistake in this. Either PS Audio develops or has a third party develop software that works guaranteed

As a consumer I would have NO problem to pay for a superb user Interface -provided- it has strong links to PS Audio and works

After upgrading my iPhone and iPad to iOS7, eLyric controller is totally dead now.

The row of controls (device / radio / music / …) totally disappeared so I simply can’t select the Bridge/PWD anymore.

How do you get around this issue?

Download plug player and you will be able to operate from IPhone 5 or Ipad

Perfectwave Dac menu you will have to operate from the touch screen (source, sample rates, filters)

My impression is there is a great diversity of opinions on this. There are those who agree with you, and many others who prefer an open architecture.

Of course, the interface need be stable and functional in any event.

The marketing certainly implies this, but also refers to connecting to your home network.

@hobieboy Indeed. Plug Player is a good alternative until we can get this fixed. We are working on it.

#13

Thanks for the suggestion coopers154 & Paul. Where do I find plug player?

thanks!

Nevermind… found it :">

@coopers154 I completely agree with you. We’ve just never had much success trying to do that, even hiring a third party. My conclusion is we’d be best to stick to our core competency which is designing great sounding hardware. We haven’t given up, but in reference to your comment, this note is intended to clarify my current thinking on making a beautiful interface. It’s something we all want, but not something so easy for us to figure out how to program or get it programmed.

@admin Pleased to learn that you also consider the user interface as very important. Personally Paul; if I would have to pay for a great working User Interface App, I would do so. As an audiophile I am also spending money on cables… I have two streamers; with my Linn streamer I purchased Chorus DS for 60 €. (always works) I realize it isn’t just a simple “software job” otherwise this issue would have been solved a long time ago.

Do hope you keep pushing either an internal solution or a trusted third party solution.

Thx!

I am currently testing out 8Player IOS control point: https://itunes.apple.com/no/app/8player/id375860275?l=nb&mt=8

Very nice GUI and it works, even for album arts if the server supports it.

Workaround to get eLyric running on iPad:

Disabling “Browser Kunst” (in German), maybe “Browser Art” in English, in the iPad settings for eLyric helps. The app then doesn’t crash when choosing a server.

Same thing with “Playlist Kunst” setting. Playlist is accessible when this option is disabled.

Waiting several minutes helps also. The renderer appears after some minutes…

Also kinsky plays good with psaudio pwd…the only problem is that you could’nt stop the music :-((
