I never put my Fiio into my main system. I havenā€™t powered up my Fiio desktop unit in months. I should compare them.

The feature set and remote control app for the A6 sets the high bar. Sound wise I should compare them. The desktop Fiii unit is less than $700ā€¦

Yeah, the price difference isnā€™t enough to break it either way. The giant beautiful touchscreen on the Eversolo is something, but the Fiio looks great too. Thinking of adding it to my Asgard 2 for a headphone setup. Or on my main system as the streamer. So many options.

Did Darko use the ES with an external DAC?

I think with the right DAC this thing is soooooo good. And I donā€™t have the brain cells or experience to explain why.

Yes, I saw the Darko video reviewsā€¦Iā€™m just not a fan of him at all. Which, I know, puts me in the minority.

Basically, I explicitly trust your takes on stuff here, so I thought Iā€™d ask.

Different strokes. Would be interesting to know what you find off-putting.

I really like the guy. One of the few I find I watch all the way through.

Interestingly, I canā€™t relate to his taste in music at all.

Dunno. There was just something off-putting. Probably heā€™s European brusque while Iā€™m Midwest-nice. Itā€™s mostly probably just cultural. And, yes, I canā€™t stand his music.

That and he tends to do videos for reviews and such while I prefer to read the written word. Itā€™s like audiobooks vs books. The only audiobooks I like are autobiography narrated by the author. I enjoyed Bryan Cranstonā€™s book and adored Phil Collinsā€˜s. Otherwise I just canā€™t connect and finish having no idea what I just listened to.

Choices are always good.

I connected my FIIO portable device to my ML preamp on one occasion, listened to 2 songs, and decided that I will never do that again, and I love my portable FIIO into headphones.

well my LHY LPS arrived today and i installed it.

Was it easy to install?

Very.

Does it sound great?

Yes.

Can I tell a difference from before?

No.

But I didnā€™t break anything so I consider it a win.

EDIT: just seeing that video aboveā€¦ the guy says youā€™d see a bigger change if you use the internal DAC. A little less of a change if you used SPDIF out. Minuscule change if you went USB out. (Which Iā€™m doing, into a Matrix X-SPDIF 2 then I2S to the Denafrips DAC.)

That checks out, I reckon.

I will say, tho, the thing sounds really really good.

Yeah the LHY ones is still relatively noisey. Probably had to cut some corners to make it fit. Itā€™s not worth having linear power supply just to have a linear power supply. You want one that has almost zero noise.

i would not be surprised if it measured better than the stock one, but I canā€™t hear it.

I just installed mine, leaving it powered on for a bit. But my audio memory is not as good as others here and I have hard time telling small differences with things. Guess that is a good thing, keeps me out of rabbit holes.

You usually donā€™t hear the noise, but you can tell when thereā€™s a lack of noise with these kinds of mods.

i didnā€™t hear noise with the original PS, and if the LHY has less noise, wellā€¦

seriously tho, i think it sounds absolutely fab.

I did upgrade the PS for the matrix xspdif 2 a bit before this, and could I tell a difference with that? Ahdunno.

My Teddy Pardo supply made a nice change to my A6. Having no power supply in the A6 makes a nice change no matter what @CoolZero says or believes.
