Some fine 1969 funk from Herbie Hancock Fat Albert Rotunda.
A cool quiet morning, we surprised two deer in the back yard. Tobi wanted to take after them but came right back when I called him. Progress!
On to disc 10, halfway through this box set of which I have mixed feelings.
Grateful Dead “Summer Magic 1985”

Now on to some Ms Wilson.
RIP Cassandra. I’ll miss the work you could have brought to us. I love what you left us.
Cassandra Wilson “Traveling Miles” Blue Note cd
Finishing up this LP Box set this morning prior to a short hike. Nice enough and an easy recommendation for those that want to add the Miles Davis Quintet Prestige LP recordings to their collection. Having the APO recordings as well I’d say each have their merits, with the APO having a bit more natural sound, and the Plangent processed recordings being a bit cleaner. Either choice is fine. I do prefer the APO Prestige artwork to the more utilitarian approach on the Plangent set. Nice to have options.
COLD this morning. I should have put on a jacket when we went out. . . and didn’t. . .but it was nice to feel the temperature.
Starting off with disc 10 of the Grateful Dead “Summer Magic 1985” box set. Halfway through, and my favorite track so far is “It’s All Over Now Baby Blue.”
Followed by disc 1 and 2 of this box set, which had been in storage way too long! This material with Twardzik is so good. The discs are short though, as each disc includes one session.
Chet Baker “In Paris: The Complete 1955-1956 Barclay Sessions”
Now on to disc 3, with Gustin on piano.
Chet Baker “In Paris: The Complete 1955-1956 Barclay Sessions”
A warmer morning this morning, Tobi and I enjoyed a nice brief flashlit walk.
I’m starting the listening day off with a 24 bit by RVG lp fascimile disc from Japan, Horace Silver “The Stylings of Silver.” I really like the Japanese 24 bit by RVG series, on my system they sound very good.
Great band on this one, and the bassist and drummer really propel it along.
Bass – Teddy Kotick
Drums – Louis Hayes
Piano – Horace Silver
Tenor Saxophone – Hank Mobley
Trumpet – Art Farmer
Recorded on May 8, 1957.

The fifth session/disc in the Chet Baker Paris Barclay box set, this session brightened by Bobby Jaspar’s participation, and Maurice Vander on piano.
