Helen Merrill “Carousel”

A chill pill that is welcome this morning.

I don’t see the humor in your selection, as it was this or Eberhard Weber this morning.

Shirley Scott Live!, featuring Stanley Turrentine, Bob Cranshaw and Otis 'Candy" Finch.
This is a killer double LP! Fans of the Scott/Turrentine combo with Cranshaw and Finch will be well served to seek out this Hammond B3 gem. Up there and surpassing the Blue Note Hustlin’, which adds Kenny Burrell.

Raul De Souza “Sweet Lucy” Capitol/EMI Japan cd

Funky, touch of disco, but Raulzinho can do no wrong at this time.

This sounds very good (listening to the stereo 24/96). Sure wish that I had the original mix in a release like this.

Coffee brewing, birds chirping, amplifier casework ticking as it warms up, contented yawn from gf. Nice, natural sounding first music of the day.

The wind at my back as I wrap up my morning bike ride, blue jays darting about, a doe with her newborn fawn, and sandhill cranes clattering.

I like this so much that I inadvertently ended up with a duplicate CD!

It was handy, so why not? Herb Alpert and The Tiajuana Brass Sounds Like. The B side wraps things up with Casino Royale.

Thoughts of Albert Ayler from Marc Ribot, Spiritual Unity. This set features Roy Campbell, Henry Grimes, and Chad Taylor.
