Rain! I forget how rainy it gets here in the early fall. When all I had to drive was my motorcycle this was a pain. (Rain gear is so clumsy to put on and remove!)

Now I rarely have to travel and have a car. Fiona the dachshund does not like the rain–she’s pressed up against me and trying to sleep.

Starting off the day with another cd from the big box from cdjapan that arrived Tuesday.

Joshua Redman “Mood Swing” Warner Bros. cd

The rain stopped! Fiona is happy. She is so low to the ground. . . that wet grass is a tickling wet disadvantage.

Man the system sounds GREAT!

Having experienced a screening of this performance at the Hyde Park Jazz Festival, all I can say is wow! Rob Mazurek and the Exploding Star Orchestra Live at the Adler Planetarium. Images projected on the Adler Planetarium Dome while the ensemble plays on, in addition to Rob, Craig Taborn, Angelica Sanchez, Tomeka Reid, Ingebrigt Haker-Flaten, Jason Stein, Nicole Mitchell, Damon Locks, Gerald Cleaver and Chad Taylor.

Not cold this morning, but quite cool, especially with the heavy dew. A REAL relief up here in the listening room that has been stuffy too long.

Starting off with a new arrival:

Bob Dylan “The1974 Live Recordings” Columbia 27 cd box set, disc 1

Rockin’ on live with

Grateful Dead “Friend of the Devils: April 1978” 2024 box set, Third show, disc 2

God bless the Plangent Process!

Just cracked this one open, and thinking it may be a bit adventurous for a morning listen. A 2019 live date with Takeo Moriyama and Arashi (Akira Sakata, Johan Berthling, Paal Nilssen-Love) recently released on the Austrian Trost label.

A cool, quiet morning. . . still out there, and a nice dew. Had a nice date night with my wife, to get out of the house last night after a day dealing with installing a new hot water heater. . . .

Starting a listening session with:

Dave McMurdo Jazz Orchestra
“Fire & Song” Sackville 2 cd set, disc 1

Followed by. . . .

Now that the system is warmed up. . . .

A box set that I ordered in January 2022 finally has been released and is in hand. Worth the wait? I guess so–it sure is a great release.

A very nice listen. . . the mastering on these Muzak Records reissues from Japan is wonderful.

A record that came in the mail yesterday. Pristine, late 'fifties vinyl–my favorite type of vinyl playback.
