I’m itching to replace my active near field speakers to the Genelec 8341A SAMs, anyone here have exerience with these? So far the tube reviews are all been great, but just want some input from here.
Main use: PC desktop general day to day use including music listening.
Thanks.
I’ve owned and used Genelec near field monitors and like them. I have not heard the model you are looking at. I have heard, and like, the PSI Active 17 monitor, which is similarly sized, though less expensive. The “21” model is similarly priced, but with a larger woofer.
I found the PSI’s to be very detailed and neutral. The design criteria for their in house drivers and cabinets are to be as ruler-flat as possible. Since both products are mostly distributed in the pro audio industry, you might find a pro dealer that has made a direct comparison.
I spent several days with the PSI 17 active monitor, working the PSI booth at Axpona, as their local dealer. Thus my bias, but I would give them a serious look and query those who may have made a direct comparison, like Vintage King.
