Gryphon PowerZone the hype is real!

I have him blocked as well.

Maybe we should look at some things with humor and not take everything so seriously.

There does seem to be a following on some audio forums for the fake DartZHeel amp believe it or not. But it has a simple Topology easy to emulate it seems. It would sure suck to be a duped buyer in a used market for this stuff. My one foray in Aliexpress for a silver Ethernet cable it sure looked good but sounded bad. But it was not even being passed off as a name brand. The attempt at return was not honored. Maybe the fake markings are needed to fool some people. I did buy Chinese power cables from Wally under his brand. They sounded better than stock and some US brands but improved more after getting a good silver connector after the knock off brand ground broke unplugging it

Consider Jay’s audio CD player and DAC from China. I once had an Audionet art G2 that was made in my hometown. When I look at the Jay CD player, it has a lot in common.

Everyone knows the phenomenon of the set sounding different each day.
I had hoped that the Puritan would solve this.
The Puritan has influence but the phenomenon remains.
To what extent can the PowerZone influence this?

None what so ever.

What I do to get rid of this problem is to disconnect all cables including PCs. Clean all connectors then restart the system. After an hour the SQ is back to its magic state.

PZ is not immune to this phenomenon, but to a much less degree. In fact, it may be becuase the system needs a reset and cleaning and has nothing to do with PZ.

From “meh” to “decent” days the PZ can go from “good” to “glorious” days.

But it cannot solve the stability issue you seem to have.

No Luca, i don’t think it’s a stability problem.
More the contamination of the grid.

Also, take note of the time of day that you are listening (if you don’t already).

Late nights and early mornings often offer better performance when the rest of the electrical gizmos (lights, appliances, etc.) are off or not running.

I also have the problem from time to time that the transformers of my amplifiers hum. I’m thinking about adding an IsoTek V5 DC filter. The Progressive Audio Powerstation might have solved these problems. My PS Audio P10 couldn’t. My Furutech Vault power strip sounds great and suppresses HF and EMI. But neither the Vault nor the Schnerzinger Grid Protector can fix DC components in the mains current. The Puritan should have a DC filter as far as I know. A power station compensates for fluctuations in the voltage.

Yes the Puritan contains a DC filter.
But i don’t really measure DC on the grid.
I see a disrupted sine wave but that seems to be normal these days.

Well, my PowerZone has been traveling. Apparently new regulations threw a wrench into the import process. The unit hit US customs and then DHL shipped it back to Denmark. Gryphon immediately sent it back to the US, and George was able to work with DHL to get the clearance completed.

Pretty expensive snafu. George also had a 333 on order from Gryphon, so it accompanied my PowerZone on its journey. Hopefully both units will make it to George this week.

Good grief.

That’s why I also use an Audioquest Niagara 5000 in my setup (along with the Schnerzinger Power Grid). What I also highly recommend is the Schnerzinger outlet which outperformed various others including my Furutech FT-SWS (R) NCF.

That’s Insane!

I’m sure all the Gryphon gear was well packed… just crazy that it took another roundtrip journey between the U.S. and Europe so unnecessarily!

Fingers Crossed for you! :crossed_fingers:

Thanks! Apparently the shipping costs for the 333 are brutal….

That’s probably why an Apex is over $100k. At 584lbs shipped it cost as much as a car to ship.

I didn’t pay shipping costs on my Apex. And it was delivered to my audio room.

No doubt that cost is considered between Manufacturers, Distributors and Dealers when it comes to their profit margins on gear…

The Quality of the product, their Customer Service and After Service to me is what separates the Best from the rest. I don’t mind paying that extra premium if I know I will get these 3 in return. Peace of Mind is priceless.

QUESTION - Has anyone used a P10 to feed a Powerzone. I have and after a few hours the P10 has failed with high output distortion (I knew something wasn’t right when the volume level seemed to go up).
