Gryphon PowerZone

My understanding is Quentin’s inclusion of the Great WhatZit was a tribute to Kiss Me Deadly. The quantum part comes to me somewhat naturally from my now retired from career. Cherenkov radiation.

Welcome… I too was curious… but would be hesitant to open mine when it arrives soon. I got these pics from a Gryphon Dealer in Hong Kong who shared them online. :sunglasses:

Agree… Ignorance is Bliss as long as it works.

Thank you so very much for posting those!! I believe they are a P3.2 with two Hafler modules like mine. So nice to get a peak under the hood. I will open mine when the warranty expires.

George at Kyomi Audio says that my PZ 3.1 is in stock and will ship from Denmark as soon as payment clears (what ever that means). Glad to know that they are not back-ordered.

Thank You Al for your help!

Interesting to see wago connectors inside – I would’ve expected some sort of chunky monster bus bars. No positive or negative connotations attached, just surprising. Ultimately the resulting sound speaks for itself.

Good Eye…

So after a bit more searching… looks like the internal pics of the PowerZone are that of a 3.20…

A poor copy of chassis and logo at best. Distinguishable. A clone. A fake. But at these prices, I’ll take two!

Maybe they sound great with the counterfeit dragons. Ridiculous

Great—A Class D minus Grifin amp for 150 bucks.

AI Overview

A fake Gryphon amp would likely sound significantly less refined and detailed than a genuine Gryphon amplifier, potentially exhibiting harshness, distortion, a lack of dynamic range, and a generally “cheap” sound quality, especially at high volumes, as it would likely be made with inferior components that cannot accurately reproduce the complex sonic nuances of high-end audio equipment like a real Gryphon amp.

Key characteristics of a fake Gryphon amp sound:

  • Distortion:

May produce noticeable clipping or distortion at higher volumes, especially on complex musical passages.

  • Muddy bass:

Bass frequencies might sound unclear or overly boomy due to poor frequency response control.

  • Harsh treble:

High frequencies could sound harsh and piercing, lacking the smoothness of a genuine Gryphon.

  • Lack of detail:

Fine nuances in the music might be lost due to poor signal processing and component quality.

  • Inconsistent soundstage:

The sound might appear uneven or localized, lacking the spaciousness of a high-quality amp.

Why mess around. Go for the gold.

Could we just do away with the person who shops for this stuff on our forum? Pushing counterfeit gear is poor behavior at best. It isn’t something most people are interested in. And what would you hope to earn from sharing these things? Respect? Hardly.

I bought this to the attention of @Elk. He did tell the offender to stop but it didn’t seem to appear to of done any good. Maybe this individual should be removed. I personally blocked him.
