Yes indeed. I was joking, of course. It probably sounded fine, I honestly don’t remember which speakers it was paired with.
Does the speakers look like huge ice cream cones?
How did you guess
Here’s a better pic.
It’s the room of the Benelux importer of PS Audio, Guy, who is now a good friend of mine. Fantastic person.
He also imports YG and a bunch of other brands.
He knows how to set up a system really well.
And the unit below is is even nastier!
Yeah, designed by my Belgian compatriot Bruno Putzeys
And the Grimm comes from our Dutch friends and neighbors.
I have to confirm, Guy is a great guy to deal with!
Here’s a closer picture of the Nagra amp.
When I brought him my trade in DMP (traded for the PST), Guy gave me a nice demo at his showroom of the YG Sonja 2.2 driven by a complete PSA stack, including PST, DSD, Bhk pre, Bhk 300, P20, etc.
It was a very nice demo, with amazingly fast transients, and a fantastic 3D soundstage.
Compared to my much cheaper system (Plinius/B&W 800 D2s), I found it a bit lacking in bass. Maybe the Sonja 2.3 would remedy that slight weakness with their additional woofers ? Or maybe the Bhk gear has less bass than the Plinius Tautoro with 2 SA 103? Who knows.
The other aspect I liked a bit less was a sort of metallic aspect to the sound, for lack of a better way to describe things.
Guy is one great human being. Been through a lot and always with a smile and a good heart.
I have the Anat III speakers with the Plinius 9200 integ. amp. ! I wanted to upgrade, but both are not in my budget this year ! I would like to meet Guy also !
He told me that he will be at the Brussels Audio show. We are planning to have a coffee or beer together. I hope that the show doesn’t get canceled, with Covid coming back …
What’s that white PS Audio stand thingy under the P20?
That is their PowerBase from years ago.
The manual for it is available on this page:
https://www.psaudio.com/support/manuals/
Yes, the PowerBase. I have ten of them. That probably is some sort of prize-winning amount.
I wonder why that went out of production. Seems like a great idea & very useful…
That is a pic of model “I could NEVER afford them 1.0”
