# Interesting take on streaming services

I’m not set up to stream yet, so I can’t say whether his assessment aligns with mine or not. Curious though how others feel the different streaming services stack up to each other in terms of sound quality.

Steve Huff offers his opinion, I repeat - his opinion. One take away, Steve is of the opinion that Spotify is not a good fit sonically for the PS Audio Air Lens. He also noted tthe combination results in drop-outs. He goes on to say to his ears and in his opinion Hi-Rez streaming is snake oil and does not offer a sound he prefers.
Got 10 minutes to waste, then check out his video. I have no opinion on either as I continue to prefer spinning records. Streaming is great for exploring music that I am interested in but do not own.

My Aurender does a great job with both Spotify and Qobuz. However i listen to Spotify more due to the app and the service in general…
Im getting less picky in my old age. Qobuz has a more defined sound especially in CLS mode on the Aurender.
But the ease of Spotify and my growing playlists on that app have given me a bias.
Thats just me. No interest in CDs or records. Streaming is just a great path to not only listening, but discovery.
He really did not say anything new except to state some streamers do some services better than others. I guess thats possible.

If I ever fo get set up to stream it will be for the purpose of being introduced to new music, so I’d most likely go with Spofify, being that it cost less.
I’d much rather own the media vs renting it.

Opened up a new world to me and it never gets old. You can literally spend hours hearing new stuff.
Or start a playlist with an artist (my last was Jesse Cook) and let it rip.
I then save my favorites to a list “liked songs” and relisten multiple times. Then file or punt.
Not expensive either, at least in the realm of this hobby.

I started streaming in 2010 using [MOG](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOG_(online_music)) but hopped onto TIDAL later. Qobuz sounds superior to me but I prefer TIDAL’s apps.

I believe you will find most of us here who stream use Qobuz and Tidal due to the sound quality. I prefer physical media, but for streaming I primarily use Qobuz. I have access to Apple Music, Amazon Music and YouTube Music but I rarely listen to them.

I saw this. I find it a bit strange that his opinion varies so drastically depending on the equipment. To the point of unlistenable to magic? His comparisons are within arguably high level equipment.

I value Huff’s opinions but this is too deep in the weeds for my ears.
