Apparently there are good and bad ones, depending on the application, but here’s Burr Brown using them 30+ years ago. Not exactly a new idea.
Not new tech but new in audio applications? Not sure. I know one thing though, in my system the LA Scala beats anything I’ve had. Directstream, Lampi, Bartok etc.
Never tried Rossini or Mola but hear good reviews on both. Heck I have heard 500 dollar dacs that sound pretty darn good.
Anyway stuff like this makes the hobby fun. I got a great deal on this baby as a demo used for a on line review. I’m happy with it. Cutting edge or not. It’s the combination of all the tech that is producing what I’m hearing and it’s a great blend of musicality and definition.
Be fun to try Mola, Rossini etc but I’m pretty happy for now. I may downsize speaker and amp wise one day, but I could keep the Aqua for a long time.
Thanks for your input
I know the new lampizator horizon dac has a tube output stage, but what are the input conversion tubes doing in the circuit?
