LHY SW-6: Snake Oil or A Substantial Upgrade?

To infinity, and beyond

The biggest difference isn’t when I put in these switches, it’s when I live with them for a while, like months, then took them out. Everything became loose and out of focus, the sound became fussy and mushy and it’s very apparent.

The makers of the Muon pro recommend using the Muon pro filter system with their Tempus Ethernet switch which is a much more expensive version of the SW-6. I will be curious of your findings!

This Ethernet switch rabbit hole is a deep one for sure! I’ve researched the SW-6, the Nordost Q switch and power supply combo ridiculously expensive imo and the Degritter-it Switch X which is slightly cheaper than the Nordost combo. The SW-6 definitely wins the bang for the buck category! The Degitter-it looks interesting. What makes me more curious is the Muon pro aspect. One would think with an inline Ethernet filter why the upgraded switch? Ugh this hobby! I forgot I looked at the Tempus switch also. Check out the optimal set up page pictured below using the Tempus switch and 2 Muon Pro systems!!!

I just wanted to stop using the EtherREGEN. I have no complaints with it. It’s just been around too long. It still seems nice.

I’m still waiting for the EtherREGEN 2. It’s been a long time coming.Hoping it’ll price out so as to make for a good comparison between it and the SW-6.

I’ve read a lot of good things about the LHY switch and it can compete with many more expensive products. We are prepared to spend a lot of money, especially in the high-end sector. I believe that many of us get tears in our eyes when we build a system with components from Aliexpress and compare it with ours. Gone are the days when the Chinese just made umbrellas for our cocktail drinks and rode in rickshaws. They have overtaken us in many points. We have ourselves to blame for this and have relocated large parts of production there and imparted the necessary knowledge. Xiaomi alone, who not only build good cell phones, now has an electric car that will overtake the competition.

There is a very interesting review and comparison at Network Acoustics tempus | HFA - The Independent Source for Audio Equipment Reviews
I also got the Muon Pro streaming system and the Tempus and agree upon the findings of the review.

Interesting, as I never took the time to add 'em up.

Yes, those isolators can make the sound worse by dampening it too much.

The only one that improved the sound for me was the built-in one on the A-B ren ethernet cable.

After using my SW-6 for a month I have nothing to report. If it makes a difference over the EtherREGEN plus clock plus power supply I am unaware of it. It is just one box though which makes me happy.

So it does… nothing that you can determine is better or worse for your system. But it looks good!
