Modding the DirectStream DAC MKI

I don’t think APS did this new type of Vocm mod for DC offset correction. According to the photo description, it’s to lower the impedance even more than the old Vocm method. I can confirm that this method is far superior. I love how it improved the sound of my MK1. I also notice there are no R5&R6 resistors as well as the parallel capacitors on R6 in that photo.

How is this going to work on unit that is already fitted Vocm ?

Old Vocm removed and this one added?

I thought you left your feedback on the Vocm modification done using “fixture method”.

Without full understanding how this Vocm buffer works, I can’t comment on how low the impedance go and if it goes lower than when using my latest suggested Vocm sandwich Molded Tantalum + COG.

But if it doesn’t solve the huge (accordingly to APS) DC offset issue, then this confirms my conclusion: this is a step back comparing to the “fixture method”

What kind of Vocm mod do you have? And what kind of Vocm alteration are you talking about?

I signed up to be a beta tester for this new type of Vocm modification. I had the top-of-the-line unit and had it upgraded. It sounds much better now. I immediately noticed the much tighter bass and a more realistic- sounding mid-bass. I was told that, based on the feedback, he will be using this new type of Vocm mod on all his MK1 DACs going forward. My board looks just like the one posted here by Zombie.

This is the unit I have now with the updated Vocm.

Why won’t you take a real picture? Why posting this pixelated picture like you are in 1990 or trying to hide something?

Compared to what?
