They can power up together (that’s what the DS does.)
But what I said was that if they are on separate switches, the DS should power up first, then the analog and the analog should power down first, then the DS. The point being that optimally the digital card should be providing a valid signal during analog power changes.
[Edit: no damage occurs if you get this backwards, at worst the sound might be a little “covered” for a few minutes.]
