New PMG 512 streamer firmware

Took only seconds. I’m wired, not wireless, but I wouldn’t think that would matter.

I would power off (and on) the streamer and then try again.

Thank you, I will try that.

Does anyone know what the 512 streamers new firmware update does. Right now mine works really good and would hate to cause any problems at this point.

Nope, but it’s still working fine for me with UPnP and Qobuz Connect. Maybe the Roon folks can chime in, if that’s something you use.

I see nothing new. Guessing some bug fixes.

Thanks for replying. Not a roon user, maybe that’s why everything is working good.

I’ve found that a pleasant expression and a light, friendly touch on the minuscule buttons are often well-received by the 512. Experience has shown that the use of angry words accompanied by heavy stabbing at the display seems to cause reluctance on the part of the DAC to respond favorably—though the latter attitude usually only emerges after several attempts in the former attitude have been rebuffed.

Yes! That worked! Thank you, up to date now.

Great! Good to hear.
Enjoy!

For people who wonder what did PMG streamer FW .10 and .11 do, here is the answer from Delia:

We made updates to each of the main streaming services (Tidal, Qobuz, and Spotify) as they had each released a new version recently. We also added convenience switching, meaning that the unit now does not need to be disconnected from service #1 before switching to service #2 – this may not affect you but it certainly is a nice function for us here at the factory so far.

That is why I did not hear much SQ difference from these FW updates.

One interesting fact is the internal streamer does not turn off from the front logo. I have been playing my library at night when it was turned off from the front. The files were still playing! I figure I can continue to break in this way.

Thanks for the update Donald, pmg 512 always shows in Qobuz connect now. Dac works perfectly now with no flaws and sounds amazing. End game Dac for me! :slightly_smiling_face:

Agreed, I have not compared the SQ from Qobuz connect to Roon yet. But PMG512 is problem free for me now. The SQ is incredible too.

Initially tried to see if there was an update - my PMG 512 told me on 3 separate occasions that 3.0.9 was the latest version - only repeated, though gentle pushing, of the relevant section finally got it to update. Had I not known there was an update available. I would have given up after the first time I was told there was no update. Could we possibly post the streamer firmware version on the website next to the regular PMG 512 DAC firmware version information so we have one place to check we are up to date?

I am wondering if the update supports Spotify ‘lossless’? Its not clear from the PMG display as I have not see it do less that 44.1 even when playing Ogg streams - the default from Spotify. Does the latest firmware include support for Spotify ‘Lossless’?

Not sure since I don’t use Spotify. You may want to email PSA support for technical questions.

I will do, thank you. As others suggest hopefully we will get to a place where the firmware and release notes for the version are published somewhere publicly for us to wander along every few weeks and check up on

Today I tried FW update on my current 3.0.9, and it says updated to 3.0.11!

I’ve been experiencing new behavior since the installation of 3.0.11 firmware. I’ll be in the middle of a listening session (via Wi-Fi) on Qobuz and the 512’s streamer will suddenly disappear, abruptly silencing the music with which, quite often, I’m very engaged. It’s just rude.

If I check for new firmware, the streamer just spinzzzzzzz. I can get back in business by restarting the streamer from the display, but it kind of disturbs the mood to have to do so. I hadn’t seen any untoward behavior for a couple or three months, and I’d been very happy that at last the many issues I’d been having had been fixed. Well, they were, at least for a while.

Is anyone else experiencing similar behavior?

— Chris

I’ve had something similar using the 512 streamer happen a couple of days ago. I don’t usually use the streamer, but it was a first. I switched to Audirvana and also had some problems. People in PSA’s Grimm forum report problems which they seem to ascribe to Roon. And of course anyone can experience problems with their internet; if drop-off or drop out problems occur with one’s computer or TV, people don’t usually blame the computer or TV. Where shall we direct our curses?
