Output DC Offset of DirectStream Junior

Hi,

I recently noticed that when I inserted a headphone into my amp I could hear an audible pop. I initially thought it’s my amp but when I shut down my DirectStream Junior the pop sound is gone.

So I measured the DC offset of my DSJ’s balanced output and it’s around 40mv for left channel and 10mv for right channel. Is the measurement normal? Should I worry about my headphone since my amp is DC coupled?

Unfortunately very high speed opamps end up having a larger DC offset than I’d like. Still 40mA seems a little high to me, you might check with PS Audio to see if they consider this out of range… I don’t know how much continuous current you head phones are comfortable with.
