Problems with PMG 512 DAC?

That is very strange. I know I have had recent network issues with my work laptop. It wants the IP of my roon server. I just use it on Wi-Fi now especially since our security team wont let you browse the internet. Its a meeting, email and document only device now. Not worried about it having to be wired. But when I do plug it in to wired, two switches up stream the whole room wired system goes down. Very strange. Wondering if something like that is happening with yours. There may be a way to reset all your IPs. I am not an expert and every router is different. Reassign its IP. I dont see how it could bring down your network any other way.

Also that was a similar error others got with the skipping of tracks with early firmware.

Thank you, I will try that.

It happened again! The blue light around the logo turned white after a couple hours of playing. When this happened remote and logo button are not functional. I had to turn it off from the back, and this time it took two tries for the volume number to appear.

It happened two days in a row, and I hope I do not have a bad unit here since no one else seems to have this issue.

After working with Delia and Peter the PMG 512 DAC is working amazingly. Thank you. This thing sounds incredible. The single most impressive upgrade in the system to date. Going from the Stellar Gold DAC and Airlens to the PMG 512 DAC, listening to the difference to me is just jaw dropping. Thank you again for the amazing support.

I haven’t noticed the light problem, but the power recycle problem I have had from the first turn on when new. The first power up took about 4 or 5 tries before it would come up completely, i.e. ready to play. Before that it gave a dark screen (logo light at left was on) or it got to the PMG screen but would not go further. There were also a number of relay clicks during boot up, so it seemed to be trying but would not complete boot up.

It seems to have improved since then taking only 1 or 2 tries to fully come up. Yesterday it took 2 tries.

Also when put into standby there may be multiple (8 to 10) relay clicks about 3 seconds apart. This happens rarely, two or three times, and may or may not be related to relay clicks during boot up.

This is a different problem from mine. Delia of PSA said the white-light logo means an error occurred. What triggered it remains a mystery. The good news is that everything went well yesterday, and I will see how does PMG512 do today. :crossed_fingers:

I suspected they were different. I don’t change settings on the 512 (fixed volume, don’t use streamer) so don’t use the remote and listen with the screen dimmed. I will leave the screen on for a while and see if the light problem occurs. My unit is an early one, delivered in August, which might be relevant if this problem happens with mine.

I use it to play SACDs mainly. However, I use 512 streamer too to compare with MU2 streamer sometimes. What I found is PMG streamer does not maintain a steady connection like my other devices. Whenever there is an internet disruption, the PMG streamer would disappear from Roon. All my other devices would show up right the way, but it took hours for PMG streamer to show up (even after I did a reboot). This is just the way it is I believe since there are too many reported already.

512 was disappearing from my available devices on qobuz connect every once and a while and was rebooting so it would show up again and a fellow member here suggested to turn off streamer from the display front panel on 512 and turn back on streamer. It shows back up very quickly and is better than rebooting which is a pain. You might want to try that Donald instead of rebooting.

That is a sign that it is either time to go golfing, or open a great bottle of wine–depending on the time of day.

Rodney Dangerfield would have done both.

I did the same upgrade and what is amazing to me is that the difference is large enough to discern without the need for A/B comparison.

Thanks for the hint, so far so good! But if the streamer disappear later I will give it a try.

I got the golfing part done already! Maybe open a bottle later. But PMG streamer is behaving well so far. I will save the wine for dinner. :wine_glass:

@msaladino22 Did you try before swapping inputs to have Qobuz release the device? I thought someone read that in the manual for the 512

Hi Brian, no I did not. I will try that. Thank you.

I’ve got an issue that hasn’t been brought up yet. Using Roon to stream to the PMG512 I’ve noticed that Roon is downsampling every file I play down to 44.1khz 16bit, regardless of original file. Most of my files are Hi-res or DSD.

Just tried mine. Seems ok. Have you checked your roon settings for the device?

Be sure you haven’t connected ROON to the PMG512 using airplay. The DAC should be in the ROON Ready category.
