Isn’t it that for the AL there’s more to it than just a rebranded ConverseDigital card? I can imagine there is, like adding vendor specifics (features?).

Darn. Thanks for sharing where things are at with the AirLens.

Apparently it is the end devices that get Roon certified, not the modules. Personally I would not care as long as the connection worked.

Same here, I have no intention of doing Roon, so as long as the AL converts Ethernet in to I2S out, I’m ready for it.

I think we can all agree it’s desirable to have devices that provide multiple options/functionalities within our requirements and budget. Of course, it’s fun to have these tailor made to our exact specs, but maybe just one forum member may afford such products.
In case of the AL, we’ll have to wait for its apparent time to market. Downvoting one option to speed up its launch won’t do any good for its chances on an already overly competitive market.
Don’t want to wait any longer? Nobody’s stopping you from making your own choices, as is when the AL is on sale. 🙂

BTW, we’re just 34 posts down from the 4000 mark that @vkennedy61 once set for the probable release of the AL. Maybe we should be holding our horses just a tiny bit?

or going gangbusters to get another 34? 😉

I feel the AirLens is around the corner, especially if the [Conversedigital card](http://conversdigital.com/kor/product/product01.php) has been built on the basis of supporting Roon - it’s just the hooking up of this one in PS Audio’s implementation that needs a look.

As someone who has been eagerly awaiting the AirLens, I hope you’re right. But if there are a number of devices from other manufacturers in Roon’s queue ahead of the AL, it could be a while even though the AL should pass easily since the Convers module is designed to support Roon.

I hope AL resolves the popping sound I get from DSD MkI. Auralic Mini that I used briefly didn’t have this problem when I changed the delay time within the Auralic app but the problem persists with Holo Red using Roon. I hope AL has a function that allows changes in the settings.

I understood the tiny pops (I experience) are not related to the streamer.

I for my part hope, the Airlens resolves the non available gapless playback of highest resolution files of Bridge II finally. The argument why this was never resolved, last time was, that Bridge II uses a Converse module and PSA has little influence on them or cooperation is hard. Now that Airlens also uses a Converse module I’m not sure what to think about it.

Maybe the right question to Paul is: will the DS Mk I be supported in connection with the Airlens and SW like Jriver?

It probably is related to the dac. However, I was able to eliminate the problem through Auralic app which indicates that the streamer might contribute to the problem. with Red, I hear relatively loud pops on the right channel switching from DSF to Flac. I turn down volume in my BHK pre before format change and it helps.

That’s a practical workaround!
Using mute may be even quicker and easier, returning to the same volume.

Don’t mean to disagree… but I will. 😄 With the past recent beta testing of FPGA loads, the inconsistency in who’s hearing pops vs. not, under otherwise similar circumstances, seems very much to suggest whatever’s feeding the MkII _does_ have something to do with it.

I referred to remaining tiny pops with the Mk I (which don’t bother me), not the Mk II.

This is my experience. After upgrading to the Mk2, I put a bunch of files of varying resolutions, some PCM and some DSD, onto a USB stick and played them via the PST. I got more and louder pops than I had experienced with the Bridge/Mk1, particularly when finishing a DSD track; very noticeable. Now I have the iFi Zen streamer, through which I do not experience the loud pops at the end of DSD tracks, just the soft pops when starting DSD (as I had with the Bridge). No firmware changes during this period.

Hi, I had a look at [Roon’s certification process](https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/roon-ready#Certification) - looks like any job takes a while. I think you’re right - step 1: what’s in the queue ahead, then step 2:

‘We sit down with a device, typically for a period of a few weeks, learn about it, use it daily, and work through all the fine-tuning of the integration. We make sure that all details are seen to and everything behaves as expected. Devices don’t achieve certification until we say they’re ready!’

</div>

In this case there is nothing for them to do as the adding a case, power supply, etc. that PS Audio is doing has no bearing on the streamer/transport part of the AirLens as that part has already been certified by Roon for the manufacturer.

I’m sure it’s just not that easy to put a part in and poof Roon trusts you that it’s built right. They want their certification and I’m sure their fees.
