No Purple 15 for you, Ron!
Paul is the MKII still projected to release before the AL?
So basic question for someone who has never streamed from an external service, only an SSD: From iPad (Mini) to Airlens, what would I need to stream, say, from Qobuz, other than a sub to the latter? The other end is taken care of — Lampi dac and an open BNC port (adapter).
Btw, any announcement on what the Airlens will go for? Thanks,
Rumor is it is tied to government set prime lending rate to fight inflation. Everry 3 month delay it climbs 200 dollars.
Simple solution without buying any extra parts or high priced software is the $5.99 paid version of mConnect HD. You cannot use the free version that was used with the Bridge II as it only controls the makers streaming board which the Bridge II was.
It uses phillips vs torx or allen. AND the philips aren’t oriented pointing up. That’s a no sale for me.
Is that a sound tweak I missed?
No, it’s common decency to use appropriate fasteners.
If you are looking at streaming, not looking at using a server setup like Roon, Audirvana or JRiver, then Tidal would be a good way. PS Audio posted last month in this forum that the AirLens supports Tidal Connect. So you can use the Tidal app itself. Qobuz does not have an equivalent setup. As PS Audio posted in August, “Qobuz will work though not directly as in you’ll need some way to choose what tracks you want to listen to.” At least Qobuz does work with the aforementioned mconnect app. I tried mconnect. It was not for me. But I have a very different, non-streaming setup.
It looks like it has the plastic top that everyone is afraid of scratching, like the perfectwave series. I like the stellar cases for their durability. But a good looking unit for sure.
Thanks. So with the Airlens it’s a physical server or software, i.e., Tidal Connect or mconnect. How does sound quality factor in that choice?
I would think it depends on the source and whether or not your streaming software mucks things up. If your source is a 256DSD file on your computer it will sound different from a Tidal file. Whether that makes a big difference on your system to your ears, you’ll just have to try it out.
Yes. See still expect the beta run of MK2 to be released late this month. Stay tuned.
I agree…doesn’t look good with phillips. For me, it makes me question the quality of what is inside.
A very attractive refresh look to the PS Audio gear. Can we expect more future products from PSA to have this same new look?
It might be another three month delay to upgrade to Allen or Torx head and change EBOM. Plus since fuse is internal finding the right bit will be easier perhaps.
For a few dollars you can upgrade the fasteners; but not quite the impact of upgrading the fuse.
@Paul quick question for you on the Airlens. If I am using Roon with AirLens to my DSD DAC Sr will the artwork display on the panel just like it did with the bridge II?
This isn’t even a Beta product…It does make sense that the final version look $2000. The basic design looks good with the exception of the screws, but this sort of thing probably doesn’t matter when all sales are online.
Years ago I briefly used MConnect HD and thought it a horrible player. Just re-downloaded it and it’s very pretty indeed. I could live with it. Wireless uPnP is by no means perfect on some of my devices, I get bobbly sounds here and there. On Devialet Expert it seems faultless. May turn on how good the uPnP implementation is and how good your wifi is. The miseries of networked music.
A few screenshots, happily streaming high res stuff.
