PS Audio Music Server In The Pipeline?

Yes, it is your year anniversary on the Forum!

Ah, yes, I could not figure out why the DAC preamp was resetting to the 25 volume default! Turns out I had the regenerator on a power plug that was switched out in the hallway and my kids messed with it every now and then. Luckily not while music was playing!

Got it!

I’m new to DAC’s and music streaming. How can I learn what I need to know about music streaming with my new Sprout 100?

To paraphrase Young Neil from Scott Pilgrim… Wow, ummm… DAC… Streamer… That’s kind of a big question. Do you have any streaming sources in mind? Like, do you have a Tidal or Qobuz subscription? Do you have your own music files?

The Sprout uses a standard ESS Sabre DAC chip within a wonderful PS Audio device. There are two digital inputs. Via USB supports lots of audiophile options like really really high resolution, including a format called DSD up to DSD128. Via optical cable it will support high-definition in a format called PCM up to 24-bit and 96kHz, which is pretty darn high resolution, just not super high resolution and not DSD, which is even higher.

You can spend months reading all the posts of all of us freaks on this forum alone. Not to mention other forums like Head-Fi. Besides doing some googling with your questions, have a look at a WiiM Mini Streamer. It can go up to 24-192 over fiber. But needs to be limited to 24-96 when plugged into a PSA DAC via fiber, which is really not all that limited actually.
