PSI Audio AVAA C214s are reviewed in the August 2024 print editions of Stereophile.

Nice review by Kalman Robinson, which includes a couple of figures showing measured room response evidencing their effectiveness.

FYI.

Thanks for posting that. I love mine. They haven’t been “tariffed” yet, so I can still get them at good guy prices.
A couple of days ago I was lamenting how bad my system sounded and I noticed my C214’s were turned off. One tap on their app and I was happy again. Silly me.

They are on my “maybe” list.

Need to sort some other adjustments and upgrades before I get serious about shopping for these…

You had better do that soon. Stereophile has the PSI C214 on the front cover of the August issue which just arrived today.

Edit: @scotte1 I missed your post above, oops.
Assume you mean 2025 and not 2024?

This is a shout out to those who are interested, or are considering additional, PSI C214’s.
According to the US distributor, there is a limited number of them in stock and a few as-new
demo units, at current pricing. The next shipment will cost more, adjusted for newly imposed
tariffs. I do not know the amount of the future increase or specific time it will be announced.
PM me if interested. Thanks.

A few months ago I installed my third PSI bass trap. Diffusers, Blackboxes, passive traps,
all help. The C214’s do the best job of eliminating room nodes and flattening the entire frequency
spectrum. You can easily see this with Wizard EQ, but easier yet with your ears. Take them out
of the system with a touch of the app, and, ouch. Can’t listen without them.
My room might be particularly bad, but it’s the best solution I have found. I would have had to
install a dozen GIK bass traps to get me close to what one C214 can do. I’m obviously a fan and
bugged PSI hard to be a re-seller. I’ve also given them insight into the audiophile market as their
background is in pro audio. Win, win.

The C214s make the difference in my room, without them there is so much bottom end boom/ringing that the enjoyment is sucked out.

One caution I would throw out if you plan on using these, when I turn up the gain on the C214s to above +3db I get 700Hz ringing in my room. I know it’s 700Hz after doing an REW sweep, very apparent and takes about a second to decay. Does not happen when the C214s are turned off or at lower gain levels.

PSI claims the C214 does not generate sound, just absorbs it. I have found that not to be entirely true, they can feedback and I’ve heard low level thunder like sound from them if there is a wind draft when the gain is set too high.

My experience suggests, using more C214s is advisable as opposed to turning their gain levels too high..

I my room I can create C214 feed back only if right near the unit at high volume. I use the highest gain setting for all the C214’s. No issues. I guess it’s room and speaker dependent but everyone I know uses the highest setting with no feedback.

One of my two is near the light switch for my office. When standing and reaching for the switch I normally get a bit of feedback. No complaints here. I have both of mine set to max as well.

Since I got my pair I can set my subs to a level I prefer and my wife no longer complains. What is that worth? Way more than the C214s cost. Way more.

You know what I say to that? Add some more subs! :upside_down_face:
