It’s been awhile now since I installed the latest software update on my Eversolo streamer and I think I can state that the gap less streaming issues are now solved. It finally offers a enjoyable experience.
I’ve spent a fair amount of time with Qobuz Connect over the past three or four weeks. I have the Qobuz app on my iPad, controlling MinimServer installed on my NAS and feeding the AirLens via ethernet.
As other people have remarked, the sound quality of QC is good. I think the user interface does need some improvement.
Most annoying, QC is in the habit of losing its connection to the AirLens. I’ve tried to figure out what causes this, but have not been completely successful. It seems to be related, at least some of the time, to switching from one part of the app to another (for instance, going from a search to a playlist or the history). But it doesn’t seem to be consistent. Getting the AirLens back sometimes is easy and sometimes not. Occasionally, it tells me that I’m off-line at the same time as I am looking at a webpage. (I have strong Wi-Fi and don’t have any other connectivity issues.) And it never remembers my preference for the AirLens: I have to re-select it whenever I open the app.
If I go from one playlist to another, the one I want to open sometimes just sits there with all the tracks grayed out. I finally get frustrated and choose a different playlist, which pops up instantly. Grrr . . . .
The history is kind of useless. Yes, I can use it to replay a song that I listened to recently. But I can’t add that song to a playlist or put it into the queue.
None of these things is a dealbreaker, but they make me appreciate mConnect (when playing songs stored locally), something that I never thought I would say.
Edit: just now I picked a song from the history and replayed it with no problems. Then I decided to get another one from the history. QC told me that the network connection was interrupted and lost the AirLens as the playback destination, and the song refused to play.
Edit number two: I played a concerto from my library (an album purchased from Qobuz). Got most of the way through it and then decided I needed to stop listening to take care of something else. The Listening screen showed two vertical bars, which normally indicate pause or stop, rather than the right pointing arrow. Tapping the bars accomplished nothing. Finally I tapped the two left facing arrows to move to the previous track, where I was able to stop the playback.
I noted before that buffering of the digital data appears to be a culprit. Solution unknown…use vinyl perhaps, but then pause at finish of the side or song to - not by remote - walk over and lift the arm.
Lifelong expression, ‘everything is a project’.
am having nonproblem listening to Qobuz through my innuous Zen Mk3 at this point but am running a very basic system…
Innuos gear likes Qobuz IME. Having both a ZEN Mk3 and ZENith Mk3, Qobuz sounds notural and no bugs. I use the Innuos Sense App, and have not played with Qobuz connect. Sounds good as is, thus no motivating factors to change.
