Torreys for Junior, Torreys for Senior, and the new version for PerfectWave, along with the Bridge II update are all finished.

This means all PS Audio DACs with Bridge II installed are now Roon Ready.

Update your DAC and [update your Bridge II now.](http://www.psaudio.com/ps_how/how-to-update-bridge-ii/)

This doesn’t mean, there’s a new torreys final for DS sen. yet after the last torreys final, correct Paul?

No, we’re just going with Torreys final.

Is there any reason to update the Bridge firmware if you’re not running Roon? Any downside to doing so? I’m guessing that there is no benefit for non-Roon users but would appreciate confirmation.

No, not really. If you’re not interested in Roon, don’t bother.

One downside is that behavior of BubbbleUPnP seems to have become even less reliable in re. connecting to the DS DAC. There is definitely at least one bug in the Bridge code.

Personally I’m probably going to forsake Roon for the time being and downgrade the Bridge, as the latest version annoys me too often to be a keeper.

Same problem with Bubble but I need to reload the old bridge firmware. Any help with going back would be great. I can’t find it in the helps.

Thanks

The only way to downgrade is via a windows based program. email me at [dennis@psaudio.com](mailto:dennis@psaudio.com) if you have access to a windows based system and I’ll send you the downgrade information.

OK guys, I just posted what will be, hopefully, the Final, Final Torreys for DirectStream.

It’s on the download site called DirectStream Torreys Final.

This should fix the USB problem and others people have been experiencing.

You’re welcome! Let’s hope this solves the majority of issues. I’ve come to understand perfection is an elusive goal when software is involved, yet we should be able to get damn close.

Paul

I’ve been an extremely happy owner of the DS with Bridge II since I bought these 5 months ago. I use an ultra simple setup: MinimServer running on a NAS holding my music library which is connected by ethernet to the Bridge, with playback controlled by BubbleUPnP running on a tablet. The bridge was picked up immediately I powered up the DS in February and has not been powered down since except when I moved from Pikes Peak to Torreys. Superb music always on tap and never, never any drop-outs.

All this changed 2 days ago when I updated the Bridge firmware from 1.2.5 to the current level. The Bridge kept dropping its connection to the network giving me a very unreliable music ‘service’. I was just about to send you a very uncomplimentary email when I luckily found the relevance of this thread. Yesterday I downloaded and installed the Final ‘Final’ Torreys firmware and (so far) I seem to have my bug-free music service back again.

Thanks for the rescue package, however I thought your recommendation to update the Bridge II firmware in todays “Paul’s Post” was unwise. You need to add a further recommendation to also update Torreys otherwise you will have a large number of unhappy DS owners!

at least my problems with the new bridge FW existed in spite of the parallel last Torreys upgrade. To me it seems bridge needs one more FW release.

Yes, you’re correct I should have. Good mention I’ll see what I can manage.

Yesterday I downloaded and installed the Final ‘Final’ Torreys firmware and (so far) I seem to have my bug-free music service back again.

Unfortunately I spoke too soon. 1 day later I started getting the same symptoms: the bridge disappeared with error messages from BubbleUPnP. Checking the network the bridge existed and could be pinged successfully. Restarting the DS does not always cure the problem. Basically a total mess.

Note I can stream from my NAS to another renderer on the network without any problems.

As I do not use (or intend to use) Roon I obviously should have avoided the firmware update. From above I note that it is not possible to get back to the earlier firmware except via a Windows system: unfortunately I have a totally Mac system.

Any chance of a further firmware update that removes these problems i.e. works flawlessly for minimal systems such as my setup?

I’d appreciate a rapid response - either a means of getting back to where I was (and very happy) or a firmware update without major faults.

Paul

Would it be possible to issue a ‘new’ firmware update for the Bridge that comprised the earlier pre-Room firmware with a different header to ensure it would supersede the Firmware just made available for Roon? Obviously such an ‘update’ would need a very prominent health warning not to download and install it if the user wished to have Roon compatibility.

Just a thought…

If you have a windows system availible, I can email you downgrade instructions. email me at dennis@psaudio.com. Or if you don't have a windows system, I can do what you ask so you can downgrade, but I can't do it until tomorrow. email me either way.
