Speakers moving on their own

Was listening to my system this afternoon and something was off. Image wasn’t lock in and bass was sounding a little muddy and over powering. Decided to remeasure speaker placement and the right speaker had moved a half of an inch closer to the front wall from where it was placed last time I had them dialed in. I also had blue tape on back and outside of each speaker marking the dialed in position, and the right speaker was covering up the tape.

Either someone broke into my house and moved my speaker or my right speaker shifted a whole half of an inch away from my listening position on its own. Hard to believe spiked speakers can move around that much from vibrations, on a carpeted floor over concrete.

Once I moved the right speaker back into position and reprimanded it, the system returned to its former glory.

That was my first thought, too.

Second was maybe this was a sailing speaker phenomenon like the Sailing Stones in Death Valley.

Any chance you have installed isolation “feet”?

But seriously, this is a DAC issue…it’s dropping half of the wave cycle so it’s only pushing in one direction. No wonder your soundstage is messed up!

Do you have a cleaning person or young children? We have both, My speakers “move on their own” couple times a month!
