For using on Gryphon PowerZone in my system: Stealth Dream 2020 Top and ZenWave PSR-11 second.
Their designs and materials are very different, yet they sounded closer to each other than apart. Dream 2020 wins in speed and dynamic, but I kept wishing to hear more treble richness; PSR-11 is just too good in this area (my preference of pure silver conductor could play a role).
The fact that I did not feel an urgent need to buy another Stealth confirmed that I am happy with both and believe they will work well together.
At first sight you may find the Dream 2020 less “open” especially if you are used to silver. Be aware: you will understand soon that it’s not openness at all, it’s a sort of less natural “coloration “.
After a while and comparisons you’ll start appreciating the richness and detail brought by the Dream 2020 in a more natural and musical way (as soon as the D333 will be there this, I guess it will be even more clear to your ears).
In a week or two the most evident aspect you’ll notice is the fact that STALTH cords are immune to any kind of coloration, just textured and involving sound, organic and balanced. All things at their right place, so to speak.
Yes. The Dream 2020 power cord genuinely seems to “get out of the way” in a good way.
This neutrality isn’t exciting, but is true to the source, I think.
Add to that it also creates a blacker background to that fine transmission. You maybe can’t have one without the other, but I’ve had cables that are quiet, but have hidden detail as well.
The point is that with so many pieces in the puzzle, the interconnections should be as colorless as possible. Maybe that’s why guys like you, Al, and myself find a full loom of Stealth a necessary “baseline”. It gives us opportunities to find other foolish consistencies.
You beat me to it Greg but you and Luca are absolutely correct! Many manufacturers claim that their cables get out of the way of the music. Nobody does it on the same level as Stealth! They are like having no cables at all the music is live in the room! IMO.
The Stealth could be one of the most neutral sounding cables out there, and my system may confirm that soon. But does that mean once you have one, you must switch the rest of your cables to Stealth? Is this the only way to achieve the “get out of the way” sound?
How about other ultra expensive cables such as Siltech or Transparent? I wonder if they also have no “color” and therefore users must be using a full loom too.
I own a Stealth Cloud Grande AG. All silver. I should plug that into my PowerZone and see what it does. First for the side with the preamp, MU2, and Bacch, then the amplifier side. Maybe all silver makes a difference.
It doesn’t hurt to do that. At least you would, like me, never have cable envy again.
I don’t think so. I have never heard anyone describe a switch to silver as “neutral”. It is anything but neutral. Think clearer glass. There are people here who might loan you a cable for a test. Maybe.
I just remembered that my CG AG is a 15 amp. Test not possible.
So one CG AG is enough in a system. You probably right on that. In my system all silver power cords does not sound as good as mixed materials. Dream2020 added something really nice to the sound.
My GG AG was in impulse buy. When I drove down to Kyomi to pick up my Gryphon Ethos, George powered it with the CG AG and used V17 Sakras, not Limited Editions, between it and the preamp. When I told him I had to have the cables as well, that doubled the price of the Ethos. No regrets.
George just texted me that he will check the D333 status, and he thinks it should be shipped out to him this week🕺🏻
Maybe once I have it in the system, Stealth will win over soon. I do plan to add at least one more to try next year. I am maxed on paying high taxes this year😆
Great. Better to test the cables with the Diablo in place. You might find the 1200’s a “weak link” in the chain and find it is easier to judge what’s hooked up to it.
You have a nice selection of power cables. Some prefer individual cables on components, others a complete set from the same brand. The right approach seems unclear. I think a cable should absorb little external interference and transmit little interference to other nearby cables. Is the interference what makes the difference in sound? Here’s a review about the Dream 2020.
If trying a AG is not available you can try and contact Sergei and let him know what you are trying to achieve with your sound. He can certainly tell you the direction to go.
Donald, I completely agree with Luca, since I experienced an instant listening appreciation of adding my 20-20s to my 333 and Power Zone. Being a bit of a lazy person, I thought don’t worry about burn in time, yet after several months I still experience listening improvement. (This includes the addition of a Cloude Grande to my MU2).
I expect the same to happen for you.
