Thanks for the update and insight of the MF MX VYNL. I quite like that unit.
I just visited the ELAC web site, their new Alchemy electronics equipment, especially the pre amp with I2S digital input and power amp looks awfully similar to the Stellar series. I don’t believe in coincidence when Paul talks about ELAC a lot, the Sprout + ELAC combo is promoted again and the ELAC electronics specs and form factor are very similar to the Stellar series.
But, what ELAC has figured out smartly, is that they have a full size phono pre amp that has it’s own power supply, fully balanced (XLR+RCA in and out) capable of having 2 cartridges permanently connected, MM + MC, and here it comes: a power supply connection for the turntable.
The best part! BELOW EUR 1000. Even in the US below US 1000.
Come on PS audio!
In exchange PS Audio should buy that unit from ELAC and put it into the Stellar enclosure. Take Darren Myers design add fully balanced option to it and sell it for more than US$ 2000 in a signature enclosure as the top of the line unit.
However In Your case, you could look for a linear power supply from KECES, you can configure those with 2 separate voltage levels, to feed both, the turntable and the phono stage.
Enjoy your system, I hope to receive my Stellar Gain Cell DAC next month.
Yeah it’s a few upgrades down the path. Next is a new cartridge (fancy moving from the Ortofons to get a warmer sound, thinking Grado Gol with 8mz stylus), then a power conditioner upgrade, then speakers and last power cables and the linear supply! Will spread that over a number of years though I hope!
Thanks for the tip on the linear supply, had been looking as Russ Andrews ones but they are mega pricey lol!
Good luck with the Stellar GCD when it arrives, you’ll love it, it is a special piece of kit!
I got a Stellar GCD a couple of weeks ago and it’s waiting on my redoing the listening room before it gets inserted into the system, where it will replace a decades-old Adcom GFP-710. I have more analog sources than it will take, so it’s requiring some judicious component placement (for ease of swapping in and out) and/or outright disposal. We’ll see how it all shakes out. Looking forward to hearing it.
