Larry Young Mother Ship gets of to a lively start with the titular song. This is an excellent album, recently reissued on the Tone Poet label.

This Acoustic Sounds reissue certainly sounds nice, a significant improvement over my rather well worn original copy.

Got a care package from Squidco yesterday…this really is a fine set. Amado has played with a ton of people, but I think this is his best band. I need to go back an revisit their first cd.

Listening to the live recordings..which were not remastered/rereleased by HatHut for some reason.. Braxton’s best band, playing incredible music.

First of 2 ‘First Visit’ cds (February 9 and 10 1980) by the Cecil Taylor Unit - another HatHut release “It Is In the Brewing Luminous” documents the first night of the 3-night run.

Another recent ‘First Visit’ HatHut release, music recorded in 2002. I can’t think of another Maneri release where he is accompanied by piano. Very nice.

I’m listening to disc 1, Helsinki. Man this sounds GREAT.

Now listening to disc 2 of this new release from The Lost Recordings, the concert from September 1964 in Berlin.

I have this in several other editions from Sony, and none sounds other than quite good, but I think this one may be better sounding in mastering. I’ll have to do some careful comparisons at a later date, but this really does sound great.
