I am hoping to find a ‘deal’ on the Esoteric SACD (street price @ $85). In the meantime, this great-sounding version on Qobuz will have to do.
A fine album, and the recent 2019 LP reissue is no slouch. The UHQCD may be a bit more affordable, seeing that the SACD shipped from Japan is rather pricey.
If you say so.
Really. It’s pink!
Okay it’s pink. You like it a lot more than I do. To me it’s “meh.”
Nice sound as well as performance.
Well, it’s one of meh latest faves.
Good playing albeit sometimes gimmicky. However a worthwhile listen or purchase.
I’m just streaming and the sq is quite good.
While driving into Chicago yesterday listening to WDCB, the local dj played the following:
Roy Eldridge Funky Blues from the Norman Granz Jam Sessions, thought I’d return to it during dinner tonight.
Following up with Jammin’ for the Clef, a high energy jazz jam that starts of with Illinois Jacquet. Some of the best from jazz impresario Norman Granz, this box set is the real deal.
Possibly the best track from the box set Funky Blues which begins by contrasting the alto sax styles of Johnny Hodges, followed by Charlie Parker, and then Benny Carter. So here is yet another nod to Charlie Parker.
One of my favorite Joshua Redman albums. Two bassists, and two drummers.
Joshua Redman “Compass” Nonesuch cd
Joshua Redman – soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone
Larry Grenadier – bass
Reuben Rogers – bass
Brian Blade – drums
Gregory Hutchinson – drums
While this is the Geof Bradfield Quintet featuring trumpeter Russ Johnson I will be attending the Geof Bradfield Quartet at Chicago’s Green Mill Friday night. Seems an appropriate way to ring in 70 years. We hope to get an early seat for Hammond B3 whiz kid Chris Foreman. I guess I’m in a nostalgic mood.
