This is amazing. Anyone heard of this? It seems kinda obscure to me.
I hear a lot of similarities to Allman Brothers Band, in particular Memory of Liz Reed on the track Native Land. Do you hear it?
Pretty good album actually and yes I hear it to a degree. Duane was a big jazz fan in general and King Curtis in particular so a fair amount of jazz elements in their longer early compositions. Even though he was not a song writer he lead the band in those directions in live performances many nights. Derek Trucks’ work shows similar influences especially during the DTB phase of his career.
A nice jazzy bluesy compilation of previously unreleased tracks by the great Joe Turner in the 'sevenites. Certainly not the best Joe Turner. . . but a nice morning listen.
