Something to consider, being limited with shelf space is going to likely result in an XP-12 here at some point.

Me too! And thank you!
This week has been a bit hectic with work and all, so by the time I get home, eat and take a shower, I sit down to start listening to an album, only to find myself waking up a couple hours later after falling asleep somewhere within the first few tracks of the album. LOL
But luckily, the weekend is just around the corner! 😁

Am posting a rare photo of all 3 speakers together, as the Sonist Concerto 4 speakers have to go. Fr20, Sonist, and Infinity modulus. All of the speakers have their grilles off.

Since you never interact with the signal chassis of the Pass multi chassis preamps, hiding them behind a rack is viable. I did it for years before I got my larger rack.

I considered it but the back side of my rack is a rat’s nest. I am awaiting Mark’s return from vacation to discuss options with him. My bias is for the current design, and as new or new if possible. Part of the delay is due to a consolidation kick I’m on. Three homes need to be reduced to one, and 8 systems need to be reduced to two, well, maybe three. My wife has me considering a relocation to Bradenton/Sarasota area. Such a move if it were to happen would result in a significant change to my jazz record collection, currently at about 10,000 LPs.

I had an XP-12. It was wonderful. Each upgrade beyond are small but noticeable improvements in overall refinement. But with the XP-12, the only real reason to go beyond would be curiosity, or the pursuit of incremental gains.

This is how I feel about having the XP-20. I’ve already heard of multiple reports of reviewers and owners (tony22 included) that the upgrade to the XP-22 is incremental. And even though it’s only one person that I read about the XP-20 still being an improvement over the XP-12, leads me to believe that the XP-20 has stood the test of time and is still a major player to the current competition out there today.
I am perfectly happy with that and plan to hold on to this preamp for quite a long time.
Ron, you say you “had” an XP-12… What do you have now, and why? Just curious.

I have a Pass XP-32. While I was still bringing home a paycheck, I kept upgrading out of curiosity. As I did, I was never disappointed.

Here’s some updated pics of my system. Within the past month, I have upgraded my Hisense 65" LED TV to a Samsung 75" QN85B Neo QLED TV, upgraded the Cambridge Audio CXN V2 to an Auralic Altair G1, and lastly just last weekend, upgraded the Quad Artera preamp to a Pass Labs XP-20.
All three are vast improvements over the units they replaced, most importantly the Auralic and Pass. Wow!

agree, but it was novel so I got it; tv speakers are low end; the visual is super, sound acceptable
you listen to tv through your gryphon/vivid system?
btw, have you compared Vivid to Magico M?

Magico hurts my ears.
I had an insane theater sound setup before building my high end system. I still have it though it is way less insane by today’s standards. Just 5.2.

One of the mains reasons I wanted to get the Pass XP-20… It has an honest “Tape Loop”! I just got the analog side of the system connected to it.
