Take Five is 65

Do you consider “Take Five” to be “so lacking in originality as to be obvious and boring” (IOW, banal)?

Curiously yours.

No, you have misinterpreted me. I was speaking in most general terms. I personally do not find Take Five banal. I rather enjoy it, and it is a piece I use to introduce people to the musics I happen to enjoy. I’m not sure what led you to believe I would think otherwise.

I simply noted your response was to a post about Take Five, and was curious.

No aspersions were intended to be cast.

Noted.

Take Five should be played back in single sided 45rpm to appreciate just how good these musicians are. Just kidding, AP 45rpm isn’t too bad either.

The single sided 45RPM is definitely “da bomb”!

The Analog Productions 45 RPM double LP is a fine listen. My personal preference.

I compared the two with my brother. Single side version has superior clarity and resolution. The difference is not too great though. Both vinyl is superior to my DSD256 and SACD. I have better analog front end though. But I love the music of the whole album nevertheless.

Oddly enough, for digital I still like the old CD K2 version the best.

I enjoy those kind of jittery pieces with odd signatures. Always have. Maybe because I came to them from the prog side.

…and I thought it was because you have impeccable taste.

I don’t think anyone I know would accuse me of that. (Having good taste)

Someone asked me how I’d describe King Crimson music. The word I chose was…”unsettling”. Person was like “okay, man. You’re NOT selling me here.” But if you put it on at bedtime and wake up mid-record, you’ll definitely be a little shaken up.

Agreed! I have it and I love it!

I provided the sound reinforcement and did the mixing for a Dave Brubeck concert back in the 70’s. Really nice guy and easy to work with.
