I agree the Tambaqui is an awesome DAC! Enjoy!
The digital out of the Adio is the ācorrected signalā.
All of the magic happens in the digital domain. If you feed analog tonthe adio, it will first convert to digital, apply the magic, then reconvert to analog.
If the signal is digital, you should feed it directly to the Adio, get the correction, and then go out to you face of choice. Only one conversion to analog.
Ok. Ima little on the slowww side but do get the idea after a few tries.
I had to not sleep on it for a while.
So this is the expected signal path:
Digital:
in to Pink Faun
out of PF
in to ADIO
(magic digital processing happens)
out of ADIO
in to MPD-8
DAC
Analog:
out of MPD-8>
in to XP-32 >
out to Amps.

I sense there are going to be some very different listening experiences, where I use BACCH (+ ORC) in the āsweet spotā of my sofa for the immersive experience, then perhaps non-BACCH but ORC listening the rest of the time when Iām in the kitchen and just milling around. This room is about 13m (42 feet) X 7.3m (24 feet), so the head tracking is not going to work except when Iām directly in the lounge, I suspect. As @aangen said, I think ORC is going to be the show stopper. Canāt wait to find out.
I think bacch +ORC all the time. XTC works best in the band where you set head tracking. But non sweet spot listening with the XTC and ORC engaged still gives beautiful regular stereo that is more tonality correct. You hear all the instruments snd voices albeit not as 3D and in normal stereo soundstage, but still wonderfully enjoyable. .
Have anyone with Baach listen to Killbill soundtrack, 1st track, Bang bang. Does it sound like underwater to you? The bass with uBacch trigger my tinnitus big time, had to cut listening session short. Hopefully B4M is better.
@Vmax - that sounds great! Apparently it will take up to 4 weeks for my gear to ship, so I will have to be patient!!
I was fortunate with a shorter wait. There is lots to take in and learn with the ORC But it is a much more powerful tool today than just a year ago. I have been working on some passive room treatment optimization the past two days trying to kill room reflections and balance the frequency response on both channels across the spectrum.
The XTC function improves even more but is still sounding lively. Bacch4mac is a great tool you will like more than some big ticket audio enhancements as to performance to dollar spent.
Hmmm, just saw an ad for the new MacBook Air with M3 chip. Looks like it can be configured to the same specs as the M2 Mac Mini but with M3 Chip and a built in display & keyboard, and, of course, it will have a battery (but no USB A port). I expect the Mac Mini would still be the way to go, but wonder if listening whilst on battery power might be advantageous?? Has anyone configured a MacBook of any kind for BACCH?
- Apple M3 chip with 8ācore CPU, 10ācore GPU and 16ācore Neural Engine
- 16GB unified memory
- 512GB SSD storage
Yeah, kinda reverb tremolo Iād say for Bang Bang. Underwater sounding even without BACCH.
Actual compute hardware is largely similar, but I imagine the USB-C and lack of ethernet could pose some real problems. I think you would be relegated to some unpleasant choices that would involve flimsy USB-A adapters and either using Wi-Fi or having to find some appendage to give you an ethernet jack. This particular situation would leave you with nowhere to plug in a camera, and I feel like a USB hub/docking station could only be detrimental to the sound. The battery proposition is an interesting one, but Iām not convinced it would be any better than running the Mini with the TeraDak module.
Thanks @fvector750
Yes, I agree. Plus, at least the Mac mini looks like a component! A MacBook would be a pain in my audio cabinet.
I used a macbook pro at times on battery - disconnected the babyface pro as it drained the battery too quickly and used Blackhole for the loopback via the autoconfigure script in Bacch4mac - I noted a marginal improvement, which I hypothesised was due to fact that the mac is unearthed - I went back to using it on the mains simply due to the length of time I could listen and the convenience (now switched to a mac mini as the macbook pro was a bit long in the tooth)
When you buy your Bacch4Mac system from Edgar you get this:
Software is loaded, every cable needed is provided. Easy peasy.
Hoping orc for adio will be released sooner than target ![]()
Right there with you!
Edgar called me today and told me my adio will ship soon.
Sean told me my Grimm MU2 will arrive next week.
I hope @CEL disapproves of the MU2 as well!
That sounds like the answer I tell my wife when she asks:
When are you going to cut the grass?, wash the car?, sweep out the garage?, etc.
I just tell her soon honey, soon.
