Times are-a changing!

Active or Passive speakers?

I am switching to Active.

Replace Gryphon and Stealth with Fii, really? But Apex can be a nice foot stool and warmer since it is not going to leave willingly.

Kii

The nice thing about the Kii speakers is they don’t need amps, preamps, and all that nonsense. My Turntable, my Ethos, my BACCH-SP, and perhaps the PowerZone. All the rest gets thrown in a dumpster. 25 Stealth cables… Vivid Spirit Speakers. All trash. Or I can just give it all to @paul172 .

Free haul away and storage. Lol

The price of gas hauling it back to IL may be the same as a new Apex.

I need sleep.

I was recently at an hi-fi exhibition in Lisbon and I was blown away by the sound of the Cambridge Audio L/R X active speakers. Although I’m not a big fan of Class D amplification, I have to admit they won me over.

Hey Al, I don’t think the guys think you’re serious  . Hell, I’m not even sure you are, myself  . Don’t get my wrong: I’m very happy with my Vivids. But remember, I’m in SA; I’m still treated as a dealer, and the Vivid’s are manufactured here. I most likely would’ve gotten a much better deal. No ways would or could I have purchased them at normal price. To a degree, I can understand you letting them go …

The Gryphon though - now that’s an entirely different story. Even though I’m very happy with my AP20, your Gryphon has me salivating! If you’re serious, and you go ahead, you’ll basically end up with amps very close to what I have. In fact: If I understand correctly, the Purifi Eigentakt modules in the AP20 are actually Putzeys’ newer ā€œflagshipā€ technology??

Now the Gryphon … I mean, now that I’ve identified my ā€œproblemā€ (as described elsewhere), under different circumstances I might’ve ended up with (say) the Aurender N20 and a Gryphon 333! That would’ve added only ONE pair of XLR’s … I can live with that level of ā€œdeclutterā€.

I’ll be watching your journey with real interest, though at the moment perhaps with some skepticism

Highly recommended, or get Al’s Apex before he uses it as a foot warmer.

The 333 is magical. Many members of this forum can speak to this. Add the cable savings and it’s an easy choice.
I love love love my Spirits! I was not looking for anything else, but accidently I found something very special. That darned Bruno is a wizard, a true star!

Bose

I’ll be your navigator. You can pay me in cast offs.

If you can’t find who to give it away to, here is a 75 year old Audiophile, who can’t afford much, who will gladly accept your gifts… :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Take a number and wait in line. But Al has a full garage of audio candies just to make us envying.

But his new Kii will make very few envying.
