Up-Grado Shout Out

Well said JLawry. I did not intend to shut anybody down or bully them. I was expressing my preference and opinion but did not launch a personal attack. If someone doesn’t like my opinion about something I post (and they have) they are welcome to state their disagreement as well.

Thanks for being reasonable, Tom. I figured you were like most people around here - opinionated as hell, but willing to hear and respect other opinions. I mean, come on, at least we were only talking about AI and not CABLES!

By the way, I didn’t read it the first time because I COULDN’T - it didn’t show in my browser. But when I did see it on my iPhone, I did read it, and I was OK with it. So thank you.

So whether or not we should copy and paste in large quotes from AI, it sure can do some fun stuff. l’ve returned my poorly-grounded Grado cartridge so I can take advantage of their loyalty upgrade offer to order the Sonata4. My package should have arrived 3 days ago, but I’ve heard nothing, despite a follow-up yesterday. So I sent an email today with the AI-generated picture below. The best part is that I specified it to have “a crying audiophile” and that picture is almost a dead-ringer for me. It’s like when I phoned my even-more-audiophile-than-me brother before attending the AXPONA audio show the first time and he said, “Get ready to meet a bunch of people who look just like us!”

Fun! I’ve played around with AI visuals and have had a good laugh. Generative AI can be entertaining. IMO, not so great when used in place of reality.

Yeah, there are still advantages to being human. In the Siemens marketing communications job I just retired from, I have been using Adobe graphics products for 35 years. I quickly learned how to Photoshop things and pretty darn realistically sometimes. Some of it was for legitimate business, but of course some of it was for humor.
