My daughter has my 60”(?) Pioneer Kuro. Built like a tank, still going strong, king of the plasmas.

Having both the Sony and the LG OLED I’d say the Sony is superior for its user interface. The LG motion sensitive, think Wii game remote, remote is a PITA to use. Images are outstanding and no screen image burn in on either.
We don’t use either TV much basically art house movies a couple of times a week. Also, have an early Panasonic plasma TV, no issues with a splendid picture.

My 55” Panny (Viero) Plasma TV is a gem.
Long in the tooth, but short on performance issues.
The 1080p resolution plus a DarbeeVision signal enhancer produces a great picture.
But I am ready for a bigger screen and have a place for the Panny in a second system.

there are some other choices…
laser projection is really above and beyond current OLED/LED offerings!
and drop down screens leave the room sonically pure when not in use…
i understand the new crop of near-screen Laser projectors, projecting upwards, keep the room and ceiling visually and sonically, clutter free…
this year LG might be in the lead with these near-screen Laser projectors (or whatever they are formally called)…though currently my ceiling projector is a Sony laser projector…
my being brand loyalty ceased when manufacturers seem to be leaning away from being customer loyal…

Laser projection is great but it’s not as good as OLED. It has size as it’s advantage. But from experience it’s hard to get big w/o interfering with speaker placement. I went from 127 to 113” to speakers out of the way. I do not have laser I have generation before Sony projector.
OLED is smaller but brighter colors are more vivid just about all aspects are better. Just smaller. I had an Epson 5050ub before the Sony. Read much on the 11000ub laser and almost upgraded to that but most said it’s not worth it. The X1 processor in Sony was much better.
Either way am getting off topic. Projection vs OLED two different applications and many cannot do projection where their music room is set up.

i have both…Sony OLEDs everywhere but my main A/V room…
your description is accurate…but, ultimate accuracy of sharpness and details with “truth” are with lasers…
i do enjoy the optics of OLED greatly - they are excellent…but, lean towards sharpness and “truth”…
and when doing 130" projected images, the choices are really Only laser…

If you want bright, yes I would agree. At 113” it’s just bright enough for me. My friend has 140” same projector but I have not yet seen in action.
Not sure what you mean by truth. The 715 and 5000 versions are same engine just laser vs Lamp. I have not read much other than brightness is the biggest difference.

really more at leaning to the convenience of Not changing bulbs regularly, thought the current crop now have brightness increased noticably…
though, cost wise, in the lifetime of the units…costs are about equal…up front costs…well…

And the 715 adds lens memory and dynamic iris! The 715 is more like the Sony 6000 laser projector. The 5000 is the manual setting. Lens memory and dynamic iris is huge! Understood…
But, given the modest size of my room and the distance to the screen from the sweet spot, I believe a high-quality, 4K (or better?) resolution television is likely best for my situation.
I just have to resist the urge of not getting a screen that is too big for room/seating distance.

recently downsized to 55 from 65, was shock at first but quickly came to prefer it for a better perspective of movie scene…and heads are not larger than normal (for most of us)
4K good enough

The LG and Sony’s are a tie for all intent and purpose. I personally think the Sony’s implementation of Google TV is much better then the LG interface. Of course this is based on my getting a TV last year. Things change, perhaps LG has done something to their interface since.

I don’t miss the heat my Kuro generated. It was nice in the winter, but in warmer weather, between it and the heat from the 2-chan system, it was warm in the living room.
