Was looking for Ukrainian Composers and found Glière. A lot of traditional Ukrainian music was banned during the Soviet times but Glière was awarded the title of People’s Artist of USSR in 1938. He was born in Kiev Russian Empire (Now Kyiv Ukraine). I think if you like “massive Wagnerian instrumentation” you’ll enjoy this.

A recent BBC Music Magazine recording of the month. Just getting started, and it’s quite nice. A bit narrow in soundstage, but then it’s only a piano and a cello. Probably a realistic perspective, given that. The performance is wonderful.
