Been too long since I had an Ed Motta album spinning. I’m playing around with the Lucid Mode in my Taboo Mk IV headphone amp and this is a fun one to do that with.
This is quite q lively and tuneful album, with good sound quality. The titular Canon is less funereal than many other versions, and the composers are predominantly Italian.
Just downloaded all 6 shows last night (24x192), cleaned up the meta data and now giving it a whirl starting with the first show (6/22/73 Vancouver). The sound quality is up and down, mostly up - some major mix issues over the first
3 songs, but they get it straightened by the 4th cut. As the show marches on the overall sound improves, but this is often common with the Dead’s live tapes, often was the case at the shows too. It’s classic Europe '72 style, just a year later - at least the first show in the series.
From Wikipedia:
“It is notable for its length and difficulty: at the time of its completion it was the longest piano piece in existence. Its duration is around 4 - 4½ hours, depending on tempo.”
Digital download in 24/96 FLAC from patriciabarber.com.
Listening to disc 2 of this new Quadrophonic SACD (I’m listening to the stereo layer) with my Sennheiser HD800S driven by the CSP3-25 and the Taboo Mk IV. A new headphone set up for me that is really hitting all the spots! (Before I was using the CSP3-25 to drive the headphones, but adding the Taboo Mk IV and “riding the gain” has proven to be quite enjoyable!)
Shouldn’t even be home spinning anything…but bad luck and tragedy shortened a trip to the east shore of Lake Michigan. Got the Blues in the morning.
Gee, I hope you’re ok!
Thanks for your concern. A Shakespearean tragedy with my wife’s very ill mother. We’ll see how it plays out. With some mercy, it will play out quickly…although, with even a small amount of mercy, things would be different already.
