At times his pedal work and the recording room acoustics remind me of an organ playing Bach in a cathedral. On Tidal
JS Bach, Vikingur Olafsson
Disc 2
I’ve posted, and commented about this set lots of times before. It’s not totally accurate to say this was my entry drug into the Jazz world (loved Mingus and fusion Miles), but really close. Opened up my ears for sure. I’ve been grateful ever since and return often.
Think I’ll just keep going. Disc 2. Need something familiar and, in general, happy. Thanks y’all, appreciate this place a lot. I don’t post much anywhere else. The “real” world is ugly enough, who needs it via virtual reality? This place is different.
Sorry to hear it. Hope things work out as well as possible.
Disc 3…the BeBop disc. Music is a gift…and our systems bring it to life.
I’m sure I picked this up off of NPR like so many. The great thing is I was able to share this with my “Latin” father-in-law. Big favorite CD for us! He’s one of the truly great people of this planet. He’s deeply ensnared in this tragedy and can’t remember why his wife’s not coming home…
CD2, concerti seven through 12, and 'cello sonata in d minor.
Elk, listening to this piece now. What a delightful work. Just what I needed on this rainy day here. Thanks for sharing.
amsco15, hope all goes as well as can be expected.
Right now an old favorite, in SHM-CD edition from Japan.
It is wonderful music, well performed. Geminiani did an amazing job arranging, expanding, and interpreting Correlli’s violin sonatas for orchestra (Geminiani was a renowned violinist at the time). It is fascinating to compare these works to the originals. The sound of the strings tuned a half-step down is luscious. Andrew Manze’s playing, as always, is both technically brilliant and expressive.
Sadly, it’s out of print. I’ve been listening on Spotify this AM, but picked up a clean CD set on eBay for $16.50 with free shipping. What a bargain!-- most sellers have for $30+.
Well done.
I have had excellent experience with used CDs.
