My latest grandson, at the tender age of four months, seems fascinated by harp music. I have tried him with Gliere and Debussy, but he seems to like best an album my mother used to play in 1957. Mary O’Hara sounds much sharper on a competent system than I remember from the radiogram in those days
Try some Alice Coltrane on him!
Stanley Turrentine “Stan the Man” Time Records/Solid Records Japan cd
This is on Spotify but not on TIDAL as far as I can tell. I do not believe there is an official physical CD release (there is a video DVD of this show, which I do not have and have not seen).
Reliving my early adulthood crush on the music of Flora Purim lately.
Flora Purim “Open Your Eyes You can Fly”
Airto and Flora later led me to seek out and love Brazilian music.
Should be working, instead I’m spending money and posting here. Just ordered this. Can’t wait!!
I strongly recommend these 3 albums of Yazz Ahmed, one of my most interesting recent discoveries:
Edit: you will see one of the albums is included in another, so you only need „La Saboteuse“ and its remix album. Great fusion somewhere between Eric Truffaz and…something yet more arabic
I’ve been a fan for some time. Great stuff. Yazz. … she’s a great player and writer.
Right now
Mark Masters Ensemble “Porgy & Bess”
Porgy & Bess ended so I put this one on, inspired by Jazznut.
Yazz Ahmed “Finding My Way Home”
Have to get this, too, didn’t know it yet, thanks!
awesome!
Less is more. Just order this one.
This is an awesome album…for the most part I have been disappointed by Pat Metheny on his other albums but on this album he shines along with Charlie Haden.
