The classical thread and the jazz thread have been by far the more interesting.
I ask that you continue to participate in both. A different perspective is truly appreciated.
I listened to many different recordings yesterday; these two impressed me the most - -
Luigi Boccherini: Quintets with contrabass
Ensemble 415
rec. 1990
Stefano Gervasoni (b.1962): Ensemble works
Divertimento Ensemble - Sandro Gorli
I find any recording with Chiara Banchini a most welcome and enjoyable adventure in good music.
I like that piece as well.
Really Enjoyable and Started at the End of last Week:
»Bach300« – 300 Jahre Bach in Leipzig - YouTube
I wish I could attend. Just finished reading Klaus Eidam’s “True Life of J.S. Bach.” It’s a bit ironic how Leipzig now has a mini-industry celebrating and promoting the work of Bach when the composer long suffered management by town leaders who really didn’t appreciate his genius.
… I fully agree with you. After Telemann and Graupner Bach was not the first Choice for the vacancy. But since Bach’s Revival by Mendelssohn and many followers, some with Bach related organisations and institutes had been established over the last decades in Leipzig. So he will not be forgotten in Leipzig, whenever not being well supported by the town leaders during his lifetime there.
John Jenkins (1592-1678): Late Consort Music
The Parley of Instruments - Peter Holman
rec. 1992
Francisco Guerau (1649-1722): works for baroque guitar
Hopkinson Smith, baroque guitar
rec. 1990
I used to wonder about the veracity of the rapid-fire “now spinning” threads until I got a server/streamer. On those occasions when I listen to a succession of cuts from various albums I realized that a quick stream of records posted by a single listener is perfectly legit. Nothing says you have to listen to a whole (or even half) album to post it. But I agree it can be difficult to stay current, if one wishes to.
Fine low bass and stage depth
Thanks for sharing, added to Qobuz queue.
