Margo Price - Days Of Unrest

"Can’t Stand Still"

I bought Data Lords when it came out, based on a rave review in one of the audiophile mags - maybe Stereophile. I’m sorry to say I’ve never been able to warm up to it.

One of a small number of single-layer SACDs in the collection.

I have Data Lords, too. I was (and continue to be) encouraged by serious artists taking on our “tech overlords” in a creative way and I thought Maria Schneider did a nice job. Having said that, when I listen to the 2 CD set, I tend to only listen to the disc called “our natural world” since I find the disc called “the digital world” tough going.

BTW on the topic of artists responding to tech, I quite enjoyed this post by Nick Cave.

Data Lords is a bit of work, but there are some very nice moments. I appreciate they take themselves seriously and the music community does so as well.

love what he play, any recommandation album from that Guy?

A nice recording but I’m not sure how easy it would be to find.

Delightful performances, superbly played. Elinor’s cadenzas are a joy.

this one please me! I enjoyed that kind of piano! The artist bring out the best of it

Ansermet and New Philharmonia Orchestra - Stravinsky - Ansermet Rehearses and Conducts The Firebird

I’ve been listening to Cristian Măcelaru’s recordings over the last few weeks.

At first, his tempos and balances seemed off but now I’m hearing pieces in exciting ways.

The Wooden Prince album is tops.

Viols! Give me viols and I shall be a happy listener.

For several years I’ve enjoyed this recording of his in a program of Mozart, Chopin and Schumann.

A very nice transfer of a shaded dog to SACD: violin concertos from Mendelssohn and Prokofiev by Heifetz, the Boston, and Münch.

This series of Copland orchestral works by John Wilson and the BBC Philharmonic is terrific - great performances and outstanding recordings. This particular one is Volume 1 and focuses on ballet works. It includes Fanfare for the Common Man, El Salón México, suites from Billy the Kid and Appalachian Spring, and four dance episodes from Rodeo. Very highly recommended.

Amazing new release in the Stradivarius ‘Scelsi Collection’.

Thanks, I have always leaned heavily on the Bernstein interpretations, time to step up my Copland game.

Alerted to this via BBC Thursday, release date October 2.

from the Violin Channel:

"Steven Isserlis has released his new album Steven Isserlis Plays The Marquis de Corberon Cello: 300th Anniversary Collection on the Hyperion Records label.

The ten-disk box set revolves around the Marquis de Corberon cello, which was made by Antonio Stradivari in 1726. The instrument takes its name from its early owner, who continued to play it until the time of his execution in 1794 during the French Revolution. In 2009, the Royal Academy of Music, to whose collection the instrument belonged, placed the cello in the stewardship of Isserlis."
