Why is the DS Sr.'s low frequency harmonic distortion so high?

Has this been improved in the newer updates?

Compared to some other DACs, this seems really high.

Just guessing here: 0dB of a low frequency signal isn’t something you encounter in normal music (no matter what the volume settings are.) The output transformer on the DS Sr is being overloaded with that level of low frequency material. As the level of low frequency material is lowered the level of the harmonics fall quickly.

wow, your ears are sensitive!

It is measurement, not ears Ron.

I like ears way better than measurements. Somebody once told me that my amps don’t measure well.
What a knucklehead!
