That Acoustic Signature Hurricane table looks sexy!
MU1 great review on the Grimm MU1
Got my Tripp lights yesterday- thank you Vkennedy.
The Tornado power cable direct to dedicated outlet certainly did not hurt a thing. Sounds great but I can’t point to one specific area. If I could it would be detail/black/noise.
Based on an improvement there and the fact I changed up components this year etc. I also changed speaker cable from Nordost to AQ Robin Hood. Both changes (cable + power) helped with detail and clarity which I find pleasing. (I wonder if as you get older your hearing changes and you tend to seek what you may of lost?)
In process is a new audio stand. I’ll get a pick when finished but it will be plenty strong and basic 3 level. Below is a pic of the top shelf. 60X20X2.5 Curly Maple.
Hey roninaudio…
Which Which Tripp Lites did you get… ? I run Isobars on most
everything except my P15 and related gear.
Just to help my perspective of things…are you running your gear
off of the the Tripp Lite? If so which gear types do you have…
Also which Nordost speaker cable did you upgrade from?
This helps my understanding…
Thanks
Best wishes
Check out post 4356 by Vkennedy. The Tripp lites are just to get around wall worts
I’m running my gear off of a NIagara and AQ power cable direct to 20a circuit
Heimdall 2
Hope this helps
Thanks roninaudio…
Heimdall 2 to AQ Robinhood interesting…
Best wishes
Forgot about the Tripp Lite cables being pictured …thought
it was Tripp Lite’s surge suppressor…
Thanks
For my new system it worked really well. Kinda also proves more money does not always = better sound.
My new Pass Labs X260.8s just arrived. Can’t open the boxes just yet but will tonight. Super delayed delivery but the boxes look fine. I’m going to assume the contents are fine. Woo Hoo. Can’t imagine I’ll get them installed before Sunday. It’s a big project and I’m basically rebuilding my Salamander rack at the same time: new feet and heavy duty shelf brackets, etc.
Have you run mono-blocs before?
If not you are in for a treat
Best, -JP
I have. Swapping my current BHK 300s for the Pass Labs amps. Might be a sideways move but I’m getting out of the tube world completely.
You’ll hear a difference in the Pass set up immediately. Congrats. Have fun. Happy listening
Cha-Ching!
FYI:
Unbox them and let them adjust to room temp.for 12 hours or so in case condensation inside amps from shipping.
For sure gonna sound different the Pass’ run pretty deep in class A
Can you remind us of your preamp?
Best,
-JP
@weedeewop It seems many of the reviewers including Hans B bought their MU1 review unit for their reference systems, says a lot. I come here for knowledge like everyone else, and rely on Al and others for new tech and value/sq analysis At $12k for the Grimm it’s 2.5x less than a Taiko Extreme which i know some Asian guys who are moving up that Aurender-Taiko- $30k streamer ladder and the Grimm may have put a bit of a lid on that inflationary value to sq thinking, at least in the hi end server/streaming market.
I look forward to auditioning one in the near term.
Congrats on the monoblocks.
If you like them right out of the box, just wait until after 100 hrs or so . . .
Even broken in, they’ll probably need to reach their stable operating temp (~ 1 hr) before sounding their best.
I think we all look forward to another pair of ears hearing what Hans B said took two guys, five years each, full time, plus a host of others collaborating to eek out some Ted like magic that makes the MU1 a value.
