…and speaking of “your next upgrade”, I just had a flash, a moment of clarity.
I was sitting here listening to how wonderful, believable Ben Webster and Oscar Peterson sound coming out of my system. I truly feel like I can walk up and stand next to Ben.
I wish everyone could hear this. Can’t get better. Wow, didn’t I pick great stuff?
And almost without a pause to breathe, I thought, “I wonder what I should change”.
Moment of clarity when I fully realize that I’m nuts.

My next upgrade is replacing the sub (Klein + Hummel O 810). Because my wife hates the size of it (to big in our small flat/living room), I will exchange it with a smaller one.
Just got an eBay notification that a used Velodyne DD-10 Plus is available. In top condition, good price, trade-in via a reliable dealer. Made an offer for a lower price which was accepted immediately. Instant payment via PayPal. Deal done. Will arrive end of the week.
And the game begins with setup and integration, measurements via REW, create convolution filter… Yeah!

My next upgrade is a new media cabinet. I would have preferred to go with traditional audio stands but there are certain aesthetic considerations that are mandated by others. These need to be followed or my hobby will be severely curtailed
I currently have a BDI cabinet that I have taken beyond its intended limits. I’m moving on to a Salamander Designs Barcelona 247. I am adding fans that install at the bottom of each of the four sections, as well as their heavy duty casters. I’ve looked at many cabinets recently, and after looking at Salamander’s video of the Chameleon line and recently visiting a local shop that carries them, I am convinced this is the way to go for me. There are lots of upgrade options that can easily be added as I get to know the cabinet. The cabinets are not inexpensive, but neither is any decent piece of furniture.
Once the cabinet is here and installed I’ll get the opportunity to use shorter cables and most importantly have greater control of equipment placement and separation over power and signal cabling. That alone will be a major upgrade.

I did a quick upgrade this weekend. I added the rooDial extension to roon that allows control of roon from a Microsoft Surface Dial device. It works very well.
I fear my Holo Audio May DAC Kitsume Edition will arrive today. I am not really in the mood at the moment. Odd.

A new Audience phono cable arrived moments later and my new turntable has removed any interest I have in digital anything at the moment. Holy moly I have never heard an LP before!!!

EtherREGEN? I’m still a little skeptical. Any thoughts used in conjunction with Roon Nucleus, Matrix Spdif, to the Directstream Sr?
There is an EtherREGEN between my Euphony server which serves the same function as the Nucleus and my Signature Rendu Optical streamer. It has earned that spot and it’s staying put. It impressed me when I added it, I’d have to pull it out to see what a difference there is without it. I was told a linear power supply was no benefit, but it has one anyway. My Keces P8 powers it and my Euphony server. I have an Sbooster on the shelf right now but I am not using it for that. No sir.
